I have been with AT&T like forever. I have been pretty frustrated lately with the No Service messages. Lately, my IPhone 3GS has been roaming trying to find the network. This drains all the battery. I wrote a letter to corporate in the summer, and after numerous interventions and admission that the area has poor reception, I was given a $150.00 credit on my phone bill. I was told that they were working on a tower and that the reception would greatly improve after 8-20-11. It has not happened. I am thinking about switching to Sprint or Verizon. Any comments on that?

3G + 4G voice and data reception at home (we live on the 4th floor) are excellent here in Schaumburg, even though I'm a bit disappointed about the 4G speeds: On 4G, I usually don't reach more than 2.0-2.5 Mbps (down) / 1.5Mbps (up) - which is a far cry from what other folks are getting across the country (mostly on other networks). I really like Sprint, but I wish their 4G was a bit more speedy... like 4-5 Mbps (down). However, I don't need 4G at home since I use Comcast Hi-Speed Cable over WiFi, and 4G only on the way to work or at work. I work close to O'Hare, BTW. The 4G connection is definitely not good enough to download an album from Amazon while driving... - Oh, well. Even though I'm really happy with my trusty HTC EVO 4G, I'm planning on getting a Samsung Epic 4G Touch soon. Let's see of that one's any better as far as data reception / bandwidth go...

AT&T here is horrible. I cant speak for 10 seconds also. The call drops every 4-5 Seconds. We usually manage by skipping to say "Hello" and just tell the subject in 4-5 seconds! Seriously! I am not able to change the carrier as its a Company phone.. Fighting with them to provide the alternate carrier. or re-imubrsement.. I know AT&T is making good money.. why not invest some in new towers?? Its Sad!

Calls drop in my home all the time. They also drop when I am out, but more so at home. Sound goes out all of the time too, leading me to miss part of what people say or to start talking before the speaker has finished what they were saying. It causes a lot of problems. T-Mobile has replaced my sim card and had me power off my phone nightly yet the issue is not resolved. They don't seem to care that I tell them I will leave when my contract ends. I may just pay the $200 fee to leave before then because this is ridiculous. T-Mobile is cheap, but not worth the lack of service. With all of the smart phones and cool apps being offered these days, they seem to have forgotten that the primary purpose of a phone is to place phone calls. I'll switch to a company that realizes that.

Have four different ATT (cingular) cell phones. They all drop calls 90% of the time. Very very poor reception. The phones work 1 / 4 mile away from home.

Went from Samsung to Nokia hoping the reception would improve. Constant dropped calls. Would get 3 bars when phone was opened but would go down to 1 or no bars after number was dialed. Reception was the same both inside and outside.

Barely get one bar on first floor of home, can get up to four bars when standing on second floor by a south facing window late at night. Calls are unreliable during the day - very garbled and frequent drops.

Used Verizon sWireless ince 2007. Before that used AT&T which was not as good but decent, and T-Mobile which just plain sucked.

Inside our house, the signal fluctuates between 0 and 3, occassionally spiking briefly to 4 or 5. Most calls are unclear or dropped. Outside, the signal is only slightly stronger.

Good reception with ATT. Can make calls indoors. I'm usually on the Sprint network, which is slightly above horrible in this area; but I've bought a Go Phone to test out the ATT network. The A117 phone I'm using is cheap, but still gets a better signal from the local towers than my mid-level Sprint phone.

Cell Tower (on the water tower) behind the Jewel Osco provides excellent coverage throughout the Hearthstone / Castleford neighborhood. Even works in my basement. Generally I get all 5 bars, but I also seem to get a lot more "call failed" and "network busy" messages here than most places.
