Zero reception in the courthouse for T-Mobile. Must always borrow phone from someone else. Cingular works perfect. T-Mobile shows coverage for this area. Get one block from courthouse and reception is perfect.

Have 3 different type phones, none of which work in our house or even in the yard. Have to go at least a block away. Cingular claims that they don't know why we have a problem in our area. However, when we went to another store in the loop, they said that Skokie has bad coverage! We have the family plan with 4 phones and can't even drop the 2 that we use in Skokie as they will charge $150 to cancel each phone! The other 2 that are used at Bryn Mawr and Kenmore seem to be ok on the 8th floor. It is very aggravating. Neighbors with Verizon say that their service is non existent in their house also. Sprint does seem to work in their house.

I live in a basement and my calls constantly get dropped. I use the phone upstairs when possible, but even then I never have more than one bar of service. I can't afford the cancelation fee and even then, I wouldn't know who to switch to. The customer service is decent, but even in Wisconsin the reception isn't the greatest. I wouldn't recommend them, especially considering all of the good things I had heard from them previous to this.

I've had Nextel service for over 3 years now (cant change carrier as its from work) and I have to say that they have the biggest dropped calls rate. In certain areas they have awesome reception and amazing quality but no luck where I live. Calls drop very frequently and phone goes out of service. Often I cant even make phone calls as I get error IL02 (whatever that means) when try to make a call.

I switched over to T-Mobil from Sprint only to realize that I have no signal inside my house at all. Call fails every single time. The reception outside the house is flaky as well as sometimes I get it and but most of the time I have to walk over to next street to even get 1 bar for the signal. Sprint on the other hand had a great reception coverage even in my basement.

Overall decent coverage. There's dead spots here and there where calls get dropped but I've experienced that with all carriers. Signal gets a couple bars weaker indoors. I commute from Skokie to downtown and get good coverage the whole way.

I just switched from a Treo 600 on AT&T to a Treo 650 on Cingular. The reception both at my office off of Dempster and Bronx and at my home about 1 mile away off of Dempster in Skokie were good on AT&T. (In fact at my office it was excellent.) The Cingular reception is almost unusable. In particular the signal surges in and out ranging from 4 bars to 0 bars in a 5 minute period of time. I have called Cingular a couple of time an found them understanding but not able to solve my problem. In fact I thought my new phone must be defective and then replaced it without question. Unfortunately it is no the phone. To use the Treo on Cingular in my office I installed a cell phone repeater / amplifier with a remote antenna on the roof of the building. With the repeater on the phone is usable but the quality of the sound is still poor. Cingular, if you read this, please service this area.
