Usually maintain about four bars or more. 3G connection is good when it is not being overwhelmed due to the popularity of the Beyond Talk plans.

In Roaming all the time. Sometimes it is serching for service in my living room! Dead spot from South Streator clear to Cornell. Cant receive pic messages, due to no US Cellular towers in the area. I have been a customer with them for 8 years, but recently moved to this area, and forced to find better service.

Horrible in the South part of town... I don't even get reception at my house! Signal is great in the north part of town... other than that, it only works on interstates and in big cities. I can't wait to get a contract with a different company!

I can't believe I can see a tower out my window and end up with bad reception. I don't know who's tower it is, but geesh! I have dropped calls and have to remain motionless once I figure out how to hold my phone so that reception is okay. I get the occassional "circuits are busy" message, too. Especially annoying is when I phone someone, and it goes directly to their voice mail, yet I can send a text message and it goes right through with no problem. Speaking of voice mail, some times I don't get a notification until 15 minutes after the voice mail has been sent to me.

I recently began using NEXTEL because my employer uses it and I can get a discount on the monthly rate. Boy am I glad I haven't cancelled with Illinois Valley Cellular, you wouldn't believe how bad NEXTEL has been for me. Let me share the long list of problems I have encountered so far: 1) Dropped Calls - Got the service last week and went out of state, called home 3 times and each time the call dropped out or the person being talked to complained of me cutting out. 2) No Service - Found that while making calls, there were areas where I would have to dial the number a few times before it would dial. There were times when people would try to call me and get a message saying that I could not be located on the NEXTEL Network. I found that if I went into a building where IVC worked, NEXTEL did not, one of these building is one I frequent on a daily basis. Also found that at my parent's house I have NEXTEL service, at my house I do not. Service is spotty south of town 3) Features Not Activated - I was to have voice mail, caller ID, and my current number ported. Well, neither the v-mail or ID were activated, and after calling customer service numerous times, it still hasn't been resolved. NEXTEL told me my number can't be ported because IVC won't release it to them, I call IVC and they tell me NEXTEL hasn't contacted them. I called NEXTEL backj and told them this and NEXTEL tells me that they can port the number but it may be 2 weeks before they can do it. The only remotely useful feature I can find is the Direct Connect, but I am not going to keep a phone specifically for this reason. So tonight me and 3 of my friends did some testing and overall IVC and Cingular offered the best coverage for our area. So tomorrow I am taking the phone back and telling NEXTEL where they can put their service

First of all this review is for Illinois Valley Cellular which is a small company that serves an 8 county home region in Illinois. IV Cellular utilizes Alltell Communications as partners to expand their network for nationwide coverage. I can honestly say I have not had any problems in the 6 years I have been using Illinois Valley. The only locations I know of where I do not get service is in a few buildings that have heavy concrete exteriors. This is both locally and nationwide. IVC has packages at the state, regional and national levels so you can pick the plan that is right for you. My current bill for 400 nationwide minutes, free nights and weekend in Illinois, free mobile to mobile with IVC customers in the home area, voice mail and caller ID is costing me about $40 / month.

Our service was not the best in the year of service but as time went on it got worse. Now we are dropping calls left and right. Can be sitting in the same spot during a conversation and it will just drop sometimes with no warning. I talk to my boyfriend who lives in another state (he is on landline) and it has dropped up to at least five times during one conversation. First they tell me that the reception is good but not the best, then they tell me that service is marginal. Then they try to tell me it is the phones. One phone is original and the other is only a couple of months old because it had to be replaced after the within a few weeks of getting it because the first one we got just quit working altogether (nokia6800). I have been corresponding with T-Mobile for over a week now and all I hear is how sorry they are about the inconveniences and they will add minutes or take off my bill. I have gotten no results and they do not directly answer a lot of my concerns. In this time I have talked to on the phone or in emails over a dozen times and during that time maybe only heard from the same person once or twice. Sometimes I will receive two replies to an email that I had sent from two different people within less than an hour. A couple of times it was within less than 10 minutes. One representative actually told me that T-Mobile does not have to provide good service. I feel that I was basically being told that once you become a customer that thier obligation ends. If you have problems that is too bad... you entered into a contract and you are stuck. Guess a customers satisfaction is not important once they rope you in. I feel I was tricked into a new contract just because I wanted to reduce my minutes but still had basically the same plan. Nothing was mentioned about it being a promotional plan and I was not told that it would extend my contract until after I accepted the change in minutes. Now they are telling me that I am stuck because it was a promotional plan. I am feeling totally ripped off.

I had constant dropped calls and no reception. The get it now option never worked or if at all. I had to be outside just to get reception and walk around to follow the signal. I went through 6 phones in less than a year some dups. because of faulty products.
