I had Verizon for several years but never could get any reception in Albany. I switched to AT&T (Cingular) 2 years ago. I have 5 bars everywhere in town. Finally! I'm getting what I am paying for! I have the Family Plan and Roll-over minutes. It's great.

Called, e-mailed, and written Verizon Wireless numerous times over the years (as recent as 8 / 30 / 2006) voicing displeasure of relatively no cell phone reception in the Albany, Indiana area. Six miles in any direction from Albany you have full-bars reception. In Albany, however, you are lucky to have one-bar reception. There's a tower on Hwy. 67, near the Albany Golf Course, that overlooks the town. Explained to Verizon that they need to rent / lease / own an antenna on this tower, and reception would be nearly perfect for subscribers in the town of 2,500.

I've been with Cingular for four years and would have discontinued if I had not added additional Family talk lines that lengthen my contract. Orginally Cingular said they were working on getting a tower in the Desoto area, but still hasn't happened. We have absolutely no signal in the house. We have a few spots in the yard we can get reception, but if it's an important call it's not worth risking the chance of losing connection. We had got the phones to eliminate long-distance phone bills, but we still have to use a land line.

I can get reception way back in my woods with Verizon, couldn't with Sprint. Over all I am very happy with Verizon. Hated Sprints guts.
