I previously had Sprint and that was a joke. Sprint is constantly dropped calls. Cingular seems to do well in my area. But sometimes even my friends on Cingular don't do well. Verizon is by far the best. You get what you pay for.

Good reception throughout region on Verizon period of Nov 2004 to June 2005. I-64 down to Ohio River, Mt Vernon, Newburgh all OK. Travel on 41 North to Princeton OK. Only small areas of spottiness appear to be in a few rolling areas towards Louisville on I-64. I-64 west to St. Louis was OK. 41 South through KY was OK.

I have had every wireless carrier in Evansville. It is truely amazing how much better Cingular is than ALL the rest. Their GSM network is incredible. I had their TDMA too and it was great. It works better than any other carrier in the Toyota plant in Princeton, IN also. You can hold a call all the way down I64 to Louisville. I also travel alot all over West KY... wonderful, Paducah / Bowling Green / Owensboro / Madisonville / Henderson... perfect. Now since they have purchased AT&T they have opened up Southern ILL / Carbondale and Norh East Missouri to Cingular customers. There is no doubt no one can touch Cingular in the tri-state. I have been told in the Evansville area they have a 56% market share. I can see why.

Travel all over Evansville area with no reception problems. Always 90-100% signal strength. Used to have Sprint in Evansville, voice quality terrible. AT&T (GSM) has been GREAT. I-64 from Evansville to Louisville, KY also very good signal strength.

Reception seems to depend on phone models as this is my second Android phone that got great reception, but other household members with feature phones do poorly even if we're right next to each other. All in all my coverage is great though. I get reception in one of my favorite bars that is in a basement where nobody else can get service. I do a lot of traveling between Evansville, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Cincinnati and Dayton. The only place where I've had coverage issues is Holiday World in Spencer County. To be fair that is in the middle of nowhere though. The best part about Sprint is there is 3G data coverage pretty much everywhere there is voice coverage whereas my friends with AT&T and Verizon often have voice coverage and no data.
