Have Verizon Wireless and cannot recieve a signal. Friends come over with ATT and they have atleast 2 bars. 3 calls with Verizon and they continue to explain that they are investigating the situation while I wait with no signal.

saw blueprints of plans submitted to county council and Verizon supposed to be on tower in this area. what happened? Verizon has no coverage and AT&T dies out about 1 mile away. looks like poor planning and a useless tower location.

Verizon phones get zero reception here. Other visitors often have poor or no reception. Two iPhones in the house on AT&T typically have 2 bars, which is adequate most of the time.

The reason reception in this area is so bad is because of Charles S. Hayes Inc. and a very suspicious decision to allow a tower to be built here. An alternate site, which would have allowed a taller tower in an area away from homes and okayed by all neighbors could have handled all cell companies and solved all problems. Unfortumatly the AZB will not allow another tower to be built in area. It was offered. So don't blame Verizon or Nextel who handle emergency communications in area, but Charles Hayes the St. Joe County Council, Mark Dobson and the people of the Knollwood Area who wouldn't help and get this done right. Thank you Verizon and Nextel for standing behind a neighborhood.

I'm lucky when I get one bar on a clear day in Granger, IN. When inside I have no hope to ever get a signal. A new tower just went up about a mile from my house, but Verizon chose not to co-locate on it. Here I come AT&T!

Thanks for the info RAZR V3m! My co-worked has AT&T and reports having great service in Granger now that the new tower is up. I submitted a support request through Verizon and basically asked them if they had any plans to co-locate on this tower. The answer was less than satisfying, they refused to give me any indication about which towers they use and which ones they plan to use in the future. My contract is up in November. Unless something changes, I'll be heading to AT&T at that time.

I see the new tower on the corner of adams and hickory is up, but did they forget to turn it on? My reception is still terrible all throughout Granger. I tried *228 on my Verizon phone to make the phone "see" the new tower, but I've had no luck.

Hooray! The Granger cell tower is finally approved. I talked to a company representative who said they hope that it will be constructed in March. No word yet on the carriers who will co-locate. Regarding the comment below about service on the Notre Dame campus: Things have improved dramatically since ND implemented a distributed cell network on campus. I get excellent service outdoors ANYWHERE on campus and indoors in most buildings which had no chance of getting service previously. Cingular also uses the distributed system but I do not use their service. ND says they are in talks with other carriers to get them on the system but Verizon and Cingular are the only ones up and running so far.

Cell service our area of Granger is ridiculous. For this size area we should have much better coverage. I get a maximum of two bars out of four while outside and the phone is often unusable inside unless you're by a window. Even then the call often sounds choppy. Whats even more pathetic is the attitude of nearby homeowners who went on a crusade against the developer who wanted to place a tower near Brick and Grape (or alternately Adams and Grape). That was about two years ago... service was terrible then and its still terrible now. I just hope it doesn't take an accident where someone cannot reach 911 from the cell to prompt construction of a new tower.

We get either no reception or one bar and dropped calls near our home in Knollwood West. A friend who has Cingular, however, can get three bars in our home.

As another subscriber said, there's only reception when you stand outside and on top of a hill without moving. No reception inside buildings. Voicemails do not show until you turn onto Adams Rd. My phone even has a pull out antenna and recieves reception in areas where most others cannot, but there's still no service in Knollwood. An employee at Verizon Wireless once explained that it was because there IS service avaiable, but it is considered roaming and since Verizon doesn't charge for roaming, they simply cut your reception in roaming areas as their way of not charging you. It could also be due to the lack of towers thanks to residents who do not want a cell tower impeding their magnificent view of some nearby trees.
