I never used to have reception problems within my office building or outside until AT&T merged with Cingular. Since then, both me and my wife (who has a newer model Motorola) basically cannot use our phones anywhere in indianapolis due to the horrible reception. Cingular tech support suggested I needed to buy a new phone and maybe the speakers on my handset were to blame. These dont seem like reasonable solutions to me so I'm probably going to drop Cingular.
This area look like it has a dead spot and everytime you call Customer service to report this problem they transfer you to tech Support who claim they'll review the network status and do something but nothing has been done as of yet. Also most of the time you'll be on a call and the call just get disconnected like that or you'll be on a call and someone comes on the lines so when yoyu pick up the line you can't go back tom the other line at all. In Overall their service stinks for real that I can tell you for real.
I used to have Nextel (Now Sprint Nextel) but switched to Verizon last fall. I couldn't be happier. The put a Sprint=Nextel store just west of 37 and Southport during the past 2 years. Nextel had horrible reception inside, where my Verizon has GREAT reception inside my home. I may pay a little bit more with Verizon, but *REMEMBER*; you get what you pay for and I am happier to have reliable service, even if it does cost a few bucks more a month. I love Verizon Service.
weird issue just arrised within the last couple months. I have good signal, but sometimes the caller can't hear me. I can hear them, have good signal, but they can't hear me. this issue will go in and out without warning. i've called Cingular customer service, but no answers to my problem yet.
1 or 0 bars in a square bounded by Southport Rd.(south), Bluff Rd.(west), Banta Rd.(north), US135 / Meridian (east). V190 performs maybe 1 bar better than V180, but not enough to provide reliable communication. VERY ocassionally (a few hours a week) reception jumps to 4 bars, as if Cingular borrows someone else's tower. The V180 was with ATT before the merger to Cingular, the V190 was added after the merger. There is / was no difference between ATT and Cingular, implying that joining the ATT and Cingular networks did not provide additional towers in that area. I reside in Meridian Wood Park, so I see an on-going pattern.
Excellent carrier; phone usually maintains 5 bars of reception. The occasional dropped call (~1 / 20) but always able to call back / reconnect. Poor reception in basements only. Also, IN-calling is invaluable! And the customer service has been fantastic.
It might be that we are up high (14th floor) of a major condo, but T Mobile coverage has been spotty to poor and customer service from them on coverage and billing issues has been even worse, so we have just left them after 3+ years for Verizon. So far not only are we happier with the phones, but the signals seem rock solid, even up this high. Also find them to be better inside places like Circle Centre and Buca di Bepo, whose main dining room is under a parking structure!
