Service is generally very good in this area - Rarely, I will get a dropped call as I travel North on Soldier's Home Road. The rest of the area, though, is fantastic!

Never had a problem. Used to have some dead spots on campus inside buildings; reception improved a lot in a couple of years since I signed up with verizon.

Reception is generally good, but I always have dropped calls around 5PM!

Even after they put in the towers around Purdue's campus I still drop calls. I had pretty good reception in the residence halls, but since I've moved out and closer to the campus, I have a poor signal. I wouldn't recommend Verizon.

Verizon has gotten really better in the past two years with their coverage. In April and May, VZW activated 5 new towers in Tippecanoe and Clinton counties. They activated towers in the following locations: 1) at the I-65 and SR 28 interchange about 7 miles west of Frankfort 2) along I-65 near the Boone / Clinton County line 3) along County Rd.900 East near the I-65 overpass in eastern Tippecanoe County 4) on State Rd.28 just west of Clarks Hill, at County Rd.700 East 5) SR 26 at I-65 In order to receive the best possible coverage, you need to dial *228, and listen for option 2 to update your roaming capabilites. This call is airtime free.

Never droped calls or didn't receive calls in my dorm. I can't say that for Cingular or sprint. Verizon is the way to go on Purdue's campus.

Verizon SUCKS... Stay away from their service. I used to have Cingular service on a personal phone, and Verizon service on a work phone. Well, quit carrying my personal phone when contract was up and regretting it ever since. They have the worst coverage I think can be found around the West Lafayette area.

My phone has a 6 bar signal meter. I usually get 5 to 6 bars around the University Inn area, and inside West Lafayette. According to Verizon, they added three new towers in the following locations: -SR 26 E at I-65 -Purdue Campus (atop the Boiler Televison Tower at Slater Hill) -SR 26 at US 52 I also know of other towers in town:along Beck Lane in South Lafayette, SR 38 E at Subaru Isuzu, and Market Square Shopping Center. There is also one tower near Montmorenci. I live at Jefferson Commons, and the cell reception goes from two to five bars all the time. No dropped calls as of yet.

Since start of spring semester reception is a lot better everywhere. Verizon put up 2 towers in December and the rep told me they have a few more coming.

I dont know what people are complaining about... I get reception everywhere in most buildings i get at least three bars out side I get four or five. The only time I get one bar or no service is when I'm in the basement of a building.

Been at Purdue for 4 years and have still yet to find a verizon tower in West Lafayette. I used to have cingular which worked fine. I'm so stupid for switching.

I am able to receive calls but as soon as I answer the call it is dropped. Horrible reception in West Lafayette compared to great reception just across the river in Lafayette.

Verizon service sucks on the Purdue Campus. It is completely horrible. I can make calls sometimes, but who knows how long the call will last before being disconnected. I've heard verizon is builing more towers here. I wonder when they are supposed to be in service?

There's no reception in most buildings. Don't get Verizon. Go for Cingular instead.

I do not know what everyone is complaining about. Buy some good phones and stop trying to get the (cheap) freebees. If Verizon had a network like eveyone else, they would be giving away free phones too. LOL What a bunch of losers!

I can get maybe 1 bar in front of a window. Currently looking to switch to a service that is good here and in Elkhart. Verizon is awesome everywhere else but here. I saw that they just bought some spectrum from Centennial, but that wont be completed until the end of 2004, and who knows when they will actually carry better service.

I can't finish a phone call by saying "Good bye". Verizon decides for me. If I'm lucky, I'll stay connected for a good 5 or 6 minutes. Verizon is the worst company in the world. I asked them for the phone with the best reception, and they gave me the v60i. Outside, I get 1 bar. Inside... No Service. Notta. Nothing. I complained, they gave me a new phone... the same phone again! I've only had more problems with this one. I have to pay them to get rid of their crappy service. Purdue - get Sprint or Cingular.

Verizon is a big crap here at West Lafayette. No reception in stores like Walmart, Payless, and Marsh. Stick with Cingular, Sprint, or T-Mobile. They are Perfect around here.

There is just 1 singal bar. I see a Tower on Yeager Rd. I guess that's Cingular's tower. It's definitely NOT Verizon's.

I frequently have had problems with Verizon in West Lafayete, IN. I switched from Sprint to Verizon in July and have regretted it since. If you step in a building (bars are notorious for this) the phone goes to no service at all. This has been tested on both my VX6000 and T730. Not even analog shows up on the T730. Sprint and Cingular seem to have the best all around coverage in town from what I have seen, and word from my friends. However, T-mobile is a close third, and I am definitely considering going to them.
