I have the NET10 version of the Optimus Net, which gets perfect reception in my apartment. My friends all say I sound much clearer than on my previous model, a RAZR-like Motorola. I've even had at least two friends comment that I sounded as if I were only a few feet away. Unit shows fluctuating 3G signal in my apartment, however, data speeds seem great. I do recieve full 3G reception at my old house. Surprisingly, the Optimus is on a Sprint system, which normally has difficulties in Atchison. furthermore, the Motorola unit was a 2G model, on an AT&T tower, which normally has the best reception quality.

stunned to find absolutely no connection available anywhere in Atchison - only began to get basic service again after climbing over the hills around atchison and getting well out of town. Verizon Fail.

Verizon shows on all their maps on-line and in printed brochures their service works at my family address. It is a lie! Probably to make their maps look better and appear as though they have better coverage. Think about it, who is going to call them on it except the few it effects, really all of Atchison, KS. I bet its easy and with no repercussions to put out false statements and data to look better for sales and competitiveness! I've been with Verizon since their beginning in Kansas City. Fare well Verizon and hello AT&T, be truthful!

Atchison has no Verizon reception, we were shocked to find out. They had to let us out of the contract on my son's phone who is a student at Benedictine College. He has AT&T and has perfect service. After our Verizon contract expired the rest of us (4 phones) all switched to AT&T and couldn't be happier.

Get this... . last year my son at college in KS didn't have any Verizon reception, but we got by with the land line in the college dorm. August 22 he went back to school and Verizon reception was great, right from his dorm room! Now, at the end of the week, no reception. He said the rumor is that Verizon had moveable towers in the area. That sounds very fishy, but the customer service rep said there is full coverage according to the Verizon map... ... This summer I had 2 kids traveling, one to Alaska and the other New Jersey and had no reception problems, no dropped calls. Today, seven hours south in KS, no reception! Grrrrr.

Just went back down to Benendictine College in Atchison. NO BETTER with Verizon. NOTHING> BAD BAD. T-Mobile was mediocre. Worked outside and in some buildings But not two different Dormitories. We will be going with AT&T. Thats what everyone in town and on Campus says too. GOOD LUCK<

Visited BC in Atchison Feb. 09 when we had Alltel and the reception was great. Then Alltel gets picked up by Verizon in our hometown, Rochester MN. When we took our son to BC this fall, no reception until we were about 5 miles out of Atchison, toward St. Joseph, MO. On the day we moved in I ran into 3 other families in our situation. I am sure there were more.. Back home, talked to manager Verizon and he tried a Hyrbrid PRL code to see if it would help reception, no luck. Keep calling Verizon to complain. They say they may know at the end of the year if the Atchison area will get coverage. Their map shows it is covered now!

We just went with Verizon because our daughter will be going to college there next year. ZERO coverage! We have complained. They are hoping to get service. Hmmm... maybe they can get a sharing aggreement with ATT. Thats what everybody there says they have.

Alltell assured me that I would have reception in Atchison. I interviewed for a job in December 08 and had good reception, got the job, moved in May of 09 and I have absolutely NO service whatsoever. They supposedly sent an engineer out to check the coverage in the area, from which I never heard back about. They finally had to let me out of my contract.

none of the phones in our family had coverage in this entire area. Called and complained and they said we should have coverage but 6 phones had no bars and they all had different prefixes!

Verizon has also told me that they have a tower IN Atchison and reception should not be a problem. Their tech support rep had us on the phone for over an hour "checking" the settings on our phones, needless to say, nothing has worked. They were supposed to call us after "checking into" the problem... that was 4 months ago and we've decided not to wait! I thought this was the network that stood behind its customers... ..WHERE IS MY NETWORK??? HAVE YOU SEEN THEM???

I was shocked to find zero Verizon coverage in Atchison. Kansas City which is only 35 miles away gets perfect service. Verizon claims they have extended service in Atchison, but they have none. They claim they have it through All-tel towers but the nearest All-tel tower I can find is 25 miles away in Everest, KS. Also, All-tel's coverage map indicates they have roaming service in this area, so I don't know how they could provide service for Verizon if they can't even provide it for themselves! Verizon we need you here!

Maps show Expanded digital all over town, through to Leavenworth and on to KCK. No service (phone says "Searching for service" until about 5 miles from Leavenworth. C'mon Verizon, put up a stinkin' tower!

Atchison--no reception thru Verizon. When I called, they said I should at least get a roaming signal. I had No Service.

We had reception here last year but we don't now! Why not?
