My phone is less than useless out here. It is often on roam, with as much as two whole bars (which last up to an astonishing 20 seconds). Most of the time it has zero coverage. I'm able to send text messages occasionally, but not make or recieve calls. If I want to make a call without it being dropped, I have to drive several miles out of town (towards 71st st on 135th w, or closer to Meridian on 103rd S)... absolutely NOT acceptable for a location so close to Wichita! I understand that ATT has just finished installing a new cell tower at the city dump, just SW of town. I'm considering switching carriers and see if I can actually use this stupid thing for anything other than an expensive paperweight.
Below average for Verizon at this location. I have traveled extensively from Gulf Coast to Canada and very rural Nebraska to Boston / DC. Have had reception most of the time. Traveling companions have had Alltel, Cingulair / ATT, Nextel, or Sprint. Almost never could they make calls and I couldn't and if that occurred it was for a very limited area. I've been here 2+ years and Verizon knows it's a hole. They have worked with me to sort it out including the day I got a call at work from the tech sitting in my driveway to report the signal strength and reason I had less than perfect at home. Verizon has some business practices that need to change, but for service when you need it, they can't be beat. The low rating is for my location only, overall the are a 4.7.
Signal very poor. Typically only one bar or no signal. Can not maintain a conversation. E-mails do get through but are frequntly delayed both sending and receiving.
8 miles from thier tower and no reception or 1 bar if your lucky. Their reps have told me everything from --ur 20 miles away from towers (8 miles by road, don't know where they are looking) to "No carriers cover that area" Not true Verizon works fine out here. Cingular is too big for thier britches if ya ask me. Bout to give them thier early termination fee and go with verizon... .No rollover miutes there, but at least I can use the service I pay for!
Clearwater has no cell reception for being a bedroom community to Wichita... can analog roam and etc. on my new Sanyo, but single-band is in the dark. This is due to change. In less than a year I'll be living in the shadow of a 200' tall Verizon tower, so maybe (just maybe) they'll piggyback a Sprint repeater on it.
