I was reading in the Hutchinson news on October 18th, 2009 about U.S. Cellular going online with a new advanced Sector Technology tower on the west side of Hutchinson. At that time I was on an Alltel network with "TERRIBLE" reception in my area on the west side of Hutchinson, KS. We had to stand out in the front yard turned to the south only to "possibly" make a call on our Alltel phones. I Had 4 phones on the plan. I was constantly complaining to Alltel at that time with dropped calls on all my Alltel phones. I even updated my 2 blackberry phones almost daily with no better service afterwards. When Verizon took over Alltel, the service did not improve even with all the phone updates. We were even considering going back to a landline service. I instead, decided to try the U.S. Cellular service. We were so amazed at the reception from inside my house with the U.S. Cellular service that we went with 5 phones for the entire family. We are very pleased with the U.S. Cellular service and we have had great reception everywhere we go on all 5 phones. THANK YOU! U.S. CELLULAR

Alltel (soon to be Verizon) has excellent coverage everywhere in Hutchinson, and most of central and western Kansas.

Tryed AT&T, and it sucked. Im not on Verizon and love it!

At first had bad service called and complained then had me do a tower search *228 since then been great service no dropped calls. Havn't been anywhere that my phone hasn't worked... ..

AT&T now has 2 cell sites, one is 2 blocks south of the water tower at A and Adams, and one on the abandoned grain elevator at 17th and Severance.

Service is never an issue. I always get perfect reception(except near belpre and lewis). Their selection of phones, on the other hand, PATHETIC! If you are wanting a cool phone, don't use Alltel.

My in-laws see a lot less of my kids because I cannot be away from cellular coverage. I would pay for a tower here if somebody would service it!

AT&T has turned on a new panel on an existing tower near Ave D and Adams street. I can now get excellent reception out to Patridge, Nickerson and Yoder from this tower. There are plans for a new tower on the north side of town to replace the mobile unit on the fairgrounds.

The September 2nd Hutchinson News showed a permit for Cingular wireless for a communications tower at 320 S Adams. There is an existing tower there, but in the last couple of weeks a new panel has appeared. I do not believe is has been turned on though as of Sep 15. An AT&T representative at the fair confirmed the tower but said it was only to stop roaming, they will not be selling service in Hutchinson.

A quick update. AT&T does have a tower in Hutchinson in the area of the fairgrounds. I was told by employees at a company store in Wichita they are testing the market here. I have found that if I walk just a couple of doors away from my house I get perfect reception. This applies in almost every direction. I think there something interfering with the signal in my specific location.

Cingular does not sell service in Hutchinson, although it may be coming. They have put up a tower somewhere in the north part of town. My LG switches b / t Alltel and Cingular in my area. The Alltel signal is much better where I am at.

Virgin Mobile (which is supposed to use the Sprint PCS network) is hit or miss all over town. I can't get a signal at my residence without going outside! As much as I like their 18¢ per minute Pay-as-You-Go for my needs, they really need to make a tri-mode phone available.

People people people yall holler about signal ! You holler about call quality.! Or dropped calls!.Or the phone works here but dosnt here. Well you need to bend over get a good dose reallity an live with it!. Cellphones are all prone to this. Because of terrain,electrical interference,Being inside a car having the phone up bi your head yuk! Buy a bluetooth headset! All of those things above factor in so before you go raise Hell! with the ones were the phone was bought remember this cellphones are not allways perfect.

I had been with Alltel for 7 yrs and finally got very fed up with no reception, dropped calls, and static. After many many trips to Alltel trying to get someone to listen to my problem and after upgrading phones and upgrading phones and listening to their line of BULL, I finally went to Verizon Wireless hoping they would be better. The first 2 months was great! Then it began to happen all over again. Dropped calls, poor reception, or NO SERVICE. I have been to their store in Wichita complaining, I've contacted them numerous times by phone calling their customer service, and I am in the same boat that I was in with Alltel. So, I refuse to pay the high phone bills every month get no service in return. What's the use of paying for nights and weekends if you can't use the phone? I absolutely have no service bars. If, I do have 2 bars, I will stand outside in one spot, make the call, and pray that the 2 bars will stay long enough to make the call, but NO, the call doesn't even make it through, it's dropped. It's so exasperating! I'm taking the phone back and cancelling my phone service! So, my point in saying all of this is, don't purchase a phone or plan from Verizon Wireless because this is an extended network and they do not guarantee service out here (we found this out too late). Verizon Wireless uses Alltel towers. Duh! The only difference is that Verizon Wireless will let me return my phone anytime since I'm in the extended network calling area without cancellation charges, unlike Alltel!

We are not pleased at all with Alltel. We have been to all the Alltel service locations trying to get help with our reception problems out here and all we get are excuses. We've bought more expensive phones, we've switched carriers from Alltel, sprint, and Verizon wireless and no wireless provider works out here. All providers say their phones, towers, and service is the best. Yeah right! We're sick of the monthly charges, poor service, no coverage, dropped calls constantly and they continue to advertise, "come get your love" Ha! I pray night and day someday soon, a cellphone company moves into this area a takes over RENO CO. by storm and gives Alltel a big marathon run for their money! Make them shove their money where their mouth is. People are tired of being ripped off. We've been told that Alltel bought up an enormous amt. of towers hoping to be the biggest wireless network nationwide and now they do not have the manpower to maintain / service them. I am hoping that many people read my comments before purchasing from Alltel. I have searched long and hard to find a way to get the message out there to NOT purchase your wireless plan from Alltel. You will be sorry. PLEASE HEED THIS MESSAGE!

The v710 is gone but its hipped up cousin the e815 is here cool! more memory 40 megs, EVDO for faster downloads for Apps. an sending messages, pictures And Bluetooth headsets of all shapes an colors. Awsom!

Alltel's service around the Hutcinson area is excellent going to Wichita is'nt bad. And being able to go over to wichita an not roam well thats got to be good. There are some dead spots. Over by nickerson,turon, arlington,and other little places And the phones that are now availible the razr,palm treo,the starcom. And more to come. And as Alltel says come get your love.!

Alltel has been our cellphone provider fore 8 years now it was kansas cellular an in 99 was aquired by Alltel we've had several phones in the past from the Motorola bag phone at 3watts to the digital v710. And we've had little to no promblems with them my v710 is a year old but still looks new. Im going to update to a razrv3c fore the new software an EV-DO. The service has been very good except fore some dead spots. You have remember things arnt allways perfect. Go Newman!.

Alltel has been an excellent provider for the year that we have used them. I commute to Wichita for work an the reception is immaculate except for a very small hollow spot around Mount Hope. In town and along major thoroughfares, Alltel is great. When I go out to the boonies I loose carrier pretty quickly, though. I am just as pleased with their business practises, I cannot say that I have ever had an issue with overcharging, changing my plan without asking, or anything else. I changed from Sprint to Alltel because of constant 'administrative' failures (ie: overcharging, changing my plan without asking, shutting off service because of going over plan minutes). I had been a Sprint customer since the time that they began offering service in the area - probably about 6 years ? - and, although their network was somewhat more complete than Alltel, the total experience began to get rapidly worse in the last year or so. I would say I made a good choice with Alltel.
