We can talk from home all we want with our Nextel phone BUT if we leave our home... ... our service drops to almost nothing. We have "no service" in most rural areas in Kansas. PLUS, our Nextel phones have no roaming features. We have heard that Sprint service is better but Sprint will make you buy SPRINT phones to roll service over from Nextel which they now own! Our contract is up in one year and we are going with another carrier.
Verizon relies on Alltel to provide coverage here. I wish they would scrap Alltel and put US Cellular in the PRL ahead of them to provide coverage though. Since Pittsburg sits so close to the Kansas-Missouri line where Alltel's native coverage ends Verizon phones jump back and forth between the USCC Joplin Market and the Alltel Pittsburg market. Which is fine if coverage was consistant. If you travel to and around the town of Opolis Verizon is useless unless if you know how to force your phone over to the US Cellular network. I'm hoping this will be fixed one day soon.
