No problems to speak of, which is odd for Nextel, but it seems to be fine in Topeka.

Cannot hold a call when I enter a building in downtown Topeka. Service drops and phone begins to hunt for roam. Once I am outside, service shows full signal strength.

If you stray from major highways / roads don't count on your Sprint phone. Even with their 'free roaming' I can put my phone into roam and it still will drop calls, all the while I embaressingly borrow a customer's phone on a different network.

Good reception in town with rare dropped calls. I even get good reception in the basement of Petro! Some problems in basement of Henderson. There is a dead spot on north 62nd just east of 75 Hwy. where my calls often are dropped.

I've had the same Sprint account / plan / phone for 4+ years. Used it many urban places without problem and no roaming - not as lucky in very remote areas (Independance,KS or North of Holton). In my Basement apt at 31st / Oakley reception is spotty - same with friends using T-Mobile, Verizon, or Cingular in my place. Seems to be a matter of usage demands and typical interior interferance. I imagine a narrow zone from my bedroom window, down the hall, into the living room where I get a signal - If I stray from that I occasionally have a problem. (real convenient, eh?) I was told the nearest tower is atop the V / A hospital about a mile from me.

Sprint is the worst carrier I have ever had. Drive anywhere outside the city limits and your call is dropped. Don't even think of traveling. My friends have CellularOne and Alltel and have no problem.

T-Mobile really, really, reallyreallyreally stinks. Coverage is very spotty all over KS. I have family that are on Alltel and Verizon that have full signals where I can barely manage 1 bar. Customer service is the worst in the business too. I think their business model was aimed at assisting 12 year olds. 3G??? I had them years ago, too bad to see they haven't improved. Will be breaking my contract in the next month to get out (it's that bad).

T-Mobile has made some major improvements in their network. Most of Topeka is covered pretty well now. I have yet to have a no service message or a dropped call in Shawnee county. They even have Sprint beat in certain parts of the state (like Southeast KS).
