If you stray from major highways / roads don't count on your Sprint phone. Even with their 'free roaming' I can put my phone into roam and it still will drop calls, all the while I embaressingly borrow a customer's phone on a different network.
T-Mobile really, really, reallyreallyreally stinks. Coverage is very spotty all over KS. I have family that are on Alltel and Verizon that have full signals where I can barely manage 1 bar. Customer service is the worst in the business too. I think their business model was aimed at assisting 12 year olds. 3G??? I had them years ago, too bad to see they haven't improved. Will be breaking my contract in the next month to get out (it's that bad).
Good reception in town with rare dropped calls. I even get good reception in the basement of Petro! Some problems in basement of Henderson. There is a dead spot on north 62nd just east of 75 Hwy. where my calls often are dropped.
Topeka Kansas which is in Shawnee County has absolutely the worse AT&T cell phone reception. Almost everyone I know who had Cingular (AT&T) has changed to verizon, and with good reason. You can actually use your cell phone. For the life of me, I don't understand why AT&T does not do something about this. If they keep going in Topeka Kansas, they will be out of business.
I've taken my phone all over the country and I get Verison coverage perfectly EXCEPT in my home, the one place I really need it. Calls are dropped at the rate of 1 every minute. Verison has replaced my phone 4 times put the problem remains. It's not the phone but the coverage. So much for the most reliable network!
T-Mobile has made some major improvements in their network. Most of Topeka is covered pretty well now. I have yet to have a no service message or a dropped call in Shawnee county. They even have Sprint beat in certain parts of the state (like Southeast KS).
Verizon's coverage is the best. I've had T-Mobile and Cingular / ATT (GSM), and the reception is horrible all over. I have yet to see a "no service" message after 1 and a half years. The only thing is that Verizon could expand their EVDO network to smaller communities more.
Very good results. In the USA Virgin Mobile is using Sprint towers. I have never had a problem with this phone (new as of six months ago, free with $20 airtime via web site). However, my wife is using an older Virgin Mobile phone, and recently she has been having problems in places I have not. If you go Virgin Mobile, get a new phone.
Tmobile is ghetto, plain and simple. Their coverage is horrible, dropped calls or no bars and their customer service at 21st and Wanamaker next to Chipolte has to be the worst in town. Obviously they work on commission, they try and sell you every bell and whistle possible even if you don't need it. They are looking to fill their pockets and not worried about customer service. The individual I dealt with, Sarah, lied to make a buck and then denied it when I called her on it and spoke with her manager.
