Mobil to mobile is poor reception and get constantly droped. Also calls within 12 block area are very poor in reception with our Motorola and samsung phone
If I want to use my Nextel at my house, I have to go out in the front yard and not move. It has been this way for 5 years. Only reason I keep it is for the direct connect feature that my company uses. After reading comments, will probably try Verizon so I can use the cell phone for long distance at home.
Have to leave my Treo next to my living room window to be digital with no bars, otherwise it's roaming everywhere else on property including in the back yard. Experimented with Digital Roaming feature off and on, same (lack of) signal. Had local Spint PCS branch run diagnostic test on my phone and came up fine. They said there's a tower relatively near my house and they would look into the problem. That was 2 months ago, no word yet.
I get generally good reception all over town... except that I work very close (just east of)21st and Broadway where I get the ROAMING icon all day and night... .I don't even know anybody in ROME!
I have been with Verizon Wireless for more than 6 years, service has been good and the coverage has been excellent. Daily commute to Hutchinson and some known "no coverage" areas on the way where calls tend to drop. But within Wichita and Hutchinson cities reception is very good. My current plan expires this month and have been looking at other providers (cingular, just for the cool Razr V3) but after reading these reviews may be I should stick to Verizon. Cons: Verizon family plans are expensive compared to others. Cheapest family plans run for $70, no rollover minutes or any other features available with other providers.
Been on Nextel for almost 2 years now after switching from Sprint. Data messaging is much better, direct connect is fast and good quality. Coverage suffers once you get out of town.
I have had Alltel for 6 years and frequently travel to Wichita. Have always had good coverage in Wichita. The roaming partner in Wichita with Alltel is Verizon and I almost always have service wherever I go in Wichita and throughout Kansas. I have tried other carriers including Verizon, and Cingular. None give as good of coverage as Alltel does on the road or in the city. It is the only carrier that I can use to do business between Wichita and KC and have coverage most of the distance.
Had Cingular National Plan for two years. Sucked everywhere in Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Nevada, and now in Kansas. Dropped calls and poor reception everywhere. Amazing that I couldn't call someone else, but could call THEM while standing still. Never broke a connection talking to their number, but repeatedly was dropped on personal calls. I believe it has to do with their roaming contracts with cell owners. Regardless, I am off to Verizon.
