If I want to use my Nextel at my house, I have to go out in the front yard and not move. It has been this way for 5 years. Only reason I keep it is for the direct connect feature that my company uses. After reading comments, will probably try Verizon so I can use the cell phone for long distance at home.

Just switched from Cingular to Verizon and cannot believe the difference. It is like day and night between the two companies as far as reception is concerned.

Just moved from out of state and have had Cingular for the past 6 years or so. I have never had the problem with poor reception and dropped calls as I have in Wichita the first 2 weeks I have had the service. I am getting out before my 30 day trial period is up. I can't see doing this for 2 years! The reception is terrible all over Wichita for the most part, but the dropped calls is the most annoying.

I have had some down times out is this area. but for the most part Alltel is the one to go with in Western Kansas. Good Hunting for a wireless service that is any good. Seem to me that they all are raising there prices and getting less service from them. My two cents.

Just got the iphone 4s in Nov last year. Reception has been great with this phone over what I had with my previous BB. Big caveat here. My home reception stinks so Sprint sent me a an Airave which is hooked into my hi-speed internet. I have had it for 2 years now. Nevertherless I can tell a big difference in reception with my 4s over the BB outside my Airave coverage. The cost of my Sprint plan beats the tar out of any of the other carriers and the iphone and Airave have fixed my reception issues.

We've been with Verizon for about 7 years now and we've gotten great reception with them almost everywhere we've been including Mexico. Southeast Kansas doesn't have good reception but I'm not sure any carrier has good reception there! I never get dropped calls and I get clear voice transmission as well. Only my daughter uses data or Web and she's never complained about that so I guess it's good too. The biggest problem with Verizon is that they are the most expensive carrier! We're looking to switch to smart phones and it will cost us $220 / month for 3 smart phones! Too much!

I've had AT&T in Wichita for a year and a half now. Their data coverage sucks in the rest of the state (although I think they finally just greenlit 3G coverage in Manhattan), but the Wichita area is great. I work out in Goddard, and there's a bit to be desired, but I think a new tower has gone online out there because coverage has gotten a bit better.
