Last year the service was great. This year, we have little to no service in the St. Matthews area of Louisville, KY. I've never had a complaint with AT&T, but this is ridiculous... ..

The Bad: I must live in the Bermuda Triangle of cell reception for the Louisville Highlands. The Good: I'm on the Sprint 4G LTE before anyone using an iPhone 4(s) with strong signal within the metro areas that I frequent

As of 1-Oct-2013, T-Mobile has turned on LTE for the Louisville area (still not officially though). Now have roughly the same "number of bars" in places but network speed has increased by about half (15MB down / 6MB up says Speedtest). It's still not the best carrier for non-urban travel. I work at Ft. Knox and have stretches of my commute with spotty voice coverage and zero data. The Rough River area is worse with nearly no T-Mobile coverage and broken roaming to AT&T's network (shows signal but won't send or receive calls / texts). Despite that, I'm still very pleased with T-Mobile and feel they are the best value around.

Pretty good for these area, as of 9 / 30, my phone is showing 4G LTE symbol instead of 4G only all of a sudden. Speedtest is about 10-13MB / s download and 8-10MB / s upload. I am very satisfied with this. And I have no complaint on the signal at all. It is always good whereever you go. Compared with Sprint, T-Mobile is awesome!

Dropped calls are common but even worse is nobody can hear me in the middle of a call. My phone is basically useless. Apple is about to give me my 4th 4s and the issue is the same. They run diagnostics and show that all of my issues are network issues. Mark my spot app is useless I report issues constantly they even reported back that they were going to do work in the area soon (this was on 2012). Nothing is better. I have to use my blackberry for all work calls (Verizon) and never have any issues. AT&T is worthless in this area. Do NOT sign a contract with them.

In Shadow Ridge Apartments on Shadow Ridge Ln, there is no Sprint service at all. Only through the use of an Airave am I able to get signal, and frequently the phone doesn't even detect the Airave. When leaving home and outside Airave coverage, no network signal is detected until topping the hill and getting to the New Chamberlain Ln / Ballardsville Rd / Brownsboro Rd intersection.

Tolerably slow service in the open air but inside the building there is little to no reception and absolutely no data stream. The phone will kill itself in half an hour trying to find service. For being located in the heart of a "bedroom community" you'd think there would be better signal. I've complained about this several times to no avail. Of course, still no 4G LTE service anywhere in Jefferson Co. There's still some 4G WiMaxx in Hikes Point but does me no good.

AT&T is horrible. I drop calls in my house or even outside in my yard all day long. Even when the call doesn't drop I get people saying "What, I can't hear you, you sound like your underwater" all the time. I went from the old iphone to the 4S and if anything it just got worse. I've actually had two different 4s's as well as a new sim card and no change. I work downtown in the Aegon building and reception is either horrendous or non-existent. Now it appears this whole area of downtown I get "No Service". What's the point of having a cell phone if you can't make or receive calls?

Ive been with Sprint for 14 years. Thier service has gone down hill for the past 2 years. I, by my own mistake just renewed my contract. I now have to wait for a year before I can switch to a carrier that will provide me with 4G. I have been paying for it with Sprint for years, Had wiMax for about 2 days, (a year ago) then Sprint changes thier service, (forcing me to buy another phone ) I then upgrade again to an LTE phone and still Sprint has no 4G in Louisville. Sprint you are a Joke of a carrier...

Over the last year or so my reception has been very shotty. One minute I have 5 bars of signal and the next none. I have dropped an unreasonable amount of calls and constantly have to have people repeat themselves due to the quality of the reception. I have been with AT&T for at least 12 years and now I will have to find another carrier. I've tried resolving the issue with them, but have found their customer service inconsistent. Some have been extremely friendly and helpful and other just plain rude. Unfortunately, neither were able to fix the problem. I even obtained a new sims card as instructed - switching from a 3G to 4G card with no improvement. I was told they were working on the towers, but after months my reception is still very bad. I'm switching to another carrier.

Sprint lost their tower when the Seminary tore down thier smoke stack on Lexington Road. Needless to say, this resulted in very poor or no signal at all in Saint Mathews. Why they did not make plans to replace it is poor planning. After several trips to the Sprint Store (which is a real hassle, they do not have enough employees) I finally got them to send me a AirRave unit to connect to my computer. The quality is still poor. Off and on signal bars-no signal outside-Voice Mail appearing with no ring-no signal if internet is down, must leave computer on 24 hours a day. I was always happy with Sprint until this happened. It has now been over a year and they still have not solved the tower issue. I even gave them the locations of other towers in my neighborhood. I would have to assume that they just do not care. My son has T-Mobile and he gets a full signal bar. Fix it Sprint

AT&T

Since moving to Louisville, I've been completely dissatisfied with AT&T's coverage and service in this area. I have failed calls constantly, no data about 30% of the time, and it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm indoors or outside. When I lived in Lexington, KY, I had little to no problems as coverage and service functioned as expected. AT&T did give me a $200 credit which they said was an acknowledgment of service issues and that I could buy a $200 micro-tower to add to my broadband Internet, which I will consider doing but I will most likely go with another carrier... The only problem with that is, I recently upgraded to a 4S while I lived in Lexington and would basically be forced to buy a new phone unless I want to jailbreak this one, which I do not. Thumbs down AT&T.

I drop calls in my basement constantly. As soon as I go up the stairs it's full bars 3G reception. Outstanding customer service and an unlimited data plan make this minor inconvenience just that minor. I love sprint.
