I can use my iPhone 4 for calls during the day, but get dropped calls fairly often (something like 1 in 6). During the weekdays, 3G service is abysmal at best, don't expect to be able to do anything on your phone between the hours of 8 and 5 on a weekday other than text / calls. Weekends and nights aren't so bad. It's definitely an issue of overcrowded network while everyone is working downtown.

I have had a lot of trouble getting data downtown with AT&T... even outside. I work in a 6-story building with large buildings around me. Voice / texting works ok, but data is practically non-existent. It's really frustrating. I'm looking into switching to Verizon because my coworkers seem to have better luck with them. Perhaps the AT&T network is just too congested downtown.

One in three phone calls is dropped inside OR outside my house, even though I can ACTUALLY see the ATT cell phone tower from my driveway. Several people in my neighborhood have been complaining. Date of onset: 11 / 2011 and ongoing. Text messaging okay. Data / Internet crappy downtown. I have 9 months remaining on plan and I am going with one of those cheapy Cricket deals--reception can't be any worse and the price can only be better.

Grinstead Dr. / Seminary Ct., Louisville, KY 40206 Tue Nov 29, 2011

There are lots of pockets around the seminary, especially in Grinstead South housing. We have worked with AT&T for the entire year and their only answer is a web-based router that raises your electric bill and is not compatible with some Apple data ports. Hence, we have had to be happy with going outside to use our phone. We were informed that they have lost a tower, but over a year now and everyone here in housing has to use a router. It has raised people's electric bill about an average of $10 a month. It is sad that this website shows this company as providing "best" reception when we often get NO reception, and miss lots of calls and texts and messages. If you are moving to Southern Seminary housing, you may want to consider another company.

Signal strength has always been poor but dropped through the floor at the beginning of Dec. 2010. AT&T Tech Support told me I was only one person and that I would have to find at least 2 other people to call in and complain! WTF over? An enterprising attorney should initiate a class action suit against these thieves.

East Jefferson Co., Louisville, KY 40245 Sat Jan 16, 2010

In the 6+ years I've had an AT&T plan the only time I've had dropped calls is while travelling down I-71. The sound quality is good, no complaints. I have two complaints, AT&T appears to have one of the more expensive plans and a LOT of times I (or relatives who have AT&T) will not receive a call but then will be notified that they have a voice mail message awaiting them. This happens within the AT&T network, too. I'm looking into Verizon, but only for the cost of plans and features available.

Numerous dropped calls, both inside house and outside house. Service great at my place of work so it isn't the phone. Told by AT&T that I am within 1 1 / 2 miles of 2 different types of cell towers. AT&T not able to explain why reception is so poor here. In fact, while talking to them, call was dropped and they had to call me back so they experienced first hand the problem. If it was so expensive to buy my way out of the contract I would switch to a different carrier.

I have had Cingular for years. I had several other companies before that, including Sprint, and hated all of them for one reason or another. Cingular was the best, until that commercial came out. They had the prices, the service and the customer service. AT&T took over and it has been downhill since day one. The commercial came out before it went public, but AT&T has been running the show since then. Don't go to AT&T no matter where you live.

Are call are always dropped. We call cell to cell. My phon to my husband's (same type of phone) and we try over and over to get through. I hate this service and am looking to change. Thought about phone change and staying with Cingular but they have really poor customer service. I can't believe their commercials that say the fewest dropped calls. I get dropped or not through at all at least 15 times per day. I really don't understand because when it happens I have 4-5 bars!

For the past two months we get no reception where we live, about three out of every five days, on either of our two phones. The closest dealer told us they have a memo that the tower is down periodically. Its worse when it rains. They are apparently not making any effort to fix the tower. We will be asking Cingular to let us out of the remaining 14 months of our contract, and we'll post the company's response.

I'm less than 4 miles from city center and have -0- signal. Cingular customer service is very poor - no chat or email contact and can't post to tech support mb's. Website says to call in - BUT I HAVE NO SIGNAL! I also travel to other big cities and experience similar problems but none nearly so bad as when I'm at home. I've been a loyal customer but am ready to terminate the contract and move on, apparently to Verizon.

Cingular is pathetic. No service in my house from ANY Cingular phone. People come over and have to do the "Phone Dance" in the driveway to get any kind of reception. I've called Cingualr several times about this, their answer is always to power cycle my phone and try swapping in a new SIM card. So far this has been pointless. It seems even worse that I've had more dropped calls since Cingular started running their "Fewest dropped calls of any network" commercials. It's been my experience that Cingular has about as many bars in more places as a dry county.

Raising the Bar? More like raising my temper. I get dropped every single day for 2 yrs in the same 3 locations and I'm posting them here. I get dropped every day on I-64 East in J-town at the Hurstbourne exit. Reception is not recovered until well past the Blankenbaker exit. Cingular blows and I get dropped all over Louisville in far too many locations to post, but these 3 are the worst. My whole family is switching carriers as soon as the contract expires. I am tired of 4 yrs of dropped calls. They are the fewest dropped calls because everyone else is leaving. Only the poor schmucks living with a tower in their back yard remain.

Using my cell phone on campus, in Old Louisville and downtown is like using a landline. When I get background noise - it's usually the caller's phone and they admit it. At home, Old Louisville - solid brick walls nearly 1.5 feet thick - I get four bars all over the house. On campus - in buildings and steel elevators - three bars and good connection. Downtown - in larger buildings - I rarely have a call drop on me. Except in second story (underground) basement of federal building. No bars there! Doh!

Reception at my home is all over the place... one moment it's great, the next my phone is showing "No Service". I've been in several models of phones, including a Motorola V400, Nokia 6010, BlackBerry 7280, etc. I've been in the cellular business for 17 years now and I can, with confidence, tell you that Cingular's GSM service in the area is absolutely horrible. Try T-Mobile. I also carry one of their phones and will occasionally swap SIM cards between phones to check reception... T-Mobile isn't perfect, but it much better than Cingular!
