I will probably switch back to Verizon. Some mis information being posted. The AT&T ice storm failure was not simply generators, but a major fiber cut due to the ice. There may have been a generator incident or two. But that was not the ultimate culprit. And, Verizon went down in southern IL, during the May 2009 Wind Storm. No provider is immune to the elements mother nature can throw at them. AT&T 3G is faster than Verizon's, but not enough to make a substantial difference. Verizon is superior to AT&T in southern IL, and that does have to do with several factors. Verizon is not superior anymore in western Kentucky than AT&T. However, if you think Verizon is not good at KY Oaks mall, try AT&T. It is absolutely horrible. In central KY, you do not want Verizon. AT&T has areas just east of the Pennyrile much more covered than Verizon. Their plight is similar to what AT&T has to deal with in southern Illinois. Overall, after having had both providers though, I'd have to say, Verizon wins.

Your frustration is warranted, considering that AT&T is so far behind Verizon when it comes to the 3G network upgrade process. That is largely in part due to recent lack of spectrum because of the Cingular divestiture to AllTel. They've had to in essence rebuild in the network. Had the network already been stout enough, 3G would have already been here. But this area was unlucky in that regard. Anyway, once 3G is established, many folks will be much happier with their data service. When AT&T 3G works right, it's darn fast. Having said that, Verizon's 3G has been here since Fall 2007. And when go into rural areas outside of Paducah, you can still get 3G with Verizon. That will likely not be the case with AT&T, as they, so far, tend to have their network upgrades confined to populated and heavily traveled areas first. It may be forever before, say, parts of Livingston, or Crittenden county get AT&T 3G. But you can with Verizon (for the most part). Hang in there.

We've had no wireless reception since about 11:00 Saturday morning. At first customer service didn't know what was going on but finally "stumbled" upon a tower problem. They said it would be Tuesday (tomorrow) before it would be fixed. Yesterday I was told in the AT&T store that they were upgrading to 3G and that no reception was the price we have to pay. I think I pay enough already without having to have NO reception for 3-4 days or longer. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Goodbye AT&T and hello Verizon. I have had enough. Tomorrow, 6-25-10 I will move my phone number to Verizon. If AT&T is tooooo cheap to get 3G in this part of the area, I am finished. I will also take about 25 family members with me when I change. (-: AT&T is going the way of the Model T. Down the drain. Goodbye and to never return.

Outdoors there might be 3 bars but indoors I am lucky to retain only one. Dropped calls and no 3G in the area. I am changing to the other guys next month when this contract is up. Maybe V will rush their 3G here soon since AT&T are not interested. Unhappy with AT&T

Most everyone on Peppers Mill Dr. in Lone Oak has little to no reception regardless of Verizon or AT&T. Don't know about Sprint. Locator maps all show coverage. Can't get rid of land line that just increased $10 / month

I can't use my phone on the previously mentioned Buckner to the mall route, nor can I talk from I-24 overpass, past the community college all the way to the Country Club of Paducah area! There is NO excuse for that!

Bad reception near mall, none at home. Frequent dead spots on new extension to mall from Bukner at I-24 underpass. Weak, intermittent signal a chronic problem. I would switch to any carrier that has a signal reliably - whatever the price - no service is a waste of money, no service = no value.

I live in an apartment complex behind the Mall area in Paducah Ky. The reception is intermittent. Cingular needs to put a tower near Ky Oaks Mall that will provide service inside the mall and the low lying area around the mall. Also, when you are travelling I24 toward Illinois as soon as you round the curve before the bridge the service drops. I work at the casino in Metropolis Illinois and there is not signal at the casino or on the parking lot. Cingular needs to put a tower west of paducah that probably solve a lot of problems in metropolis and paducah. Before they changed some of the tower signal I was able to get service in Metropolis.

Just got the new phone with the GSM technology. The reception on my previous phone was really good--the reception now is really bad. I think its the tower problems rather than the phone. Know lots of people on Cingular and many are very unhappy with the reception right now.

We have several phones for our workers that travel throughout Western Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. The reception is bad most of the time and alot of the time we get busy circuit messages. Calls cannot be heard when calling from land line to cell phone on several occasions. Cingular certainly needs more towers.
