I'm in Lakepark subdivision off O'Neal Lane and I usually get 4-5 bars in the house, but I do have a couple of rooms that I can't get much signal in. I usually get 5 bars all over town with my phone. If I drive between here and New Orleans, I usually get the same kind of reception. I went to the Paragon in Marksville last year and reception there wasn't very good, no 3G, only Edge, but I could make a call and send a text message.

Reception is poor with frequent dropped calls and extremely slow data service in my neighborhood. Calls to my cell rarely ring going straight to voice mail. Even texting fails frequently. phone reports "no service" about 25% of the time with 1 bar the rest of the time. I have complained numerous times and use their iPhone APP to report every problem. Nothing will change. Since AT&T has the land service contract in BR they have no incentive to improve cell phone service to the point that it will replace the land line service. Verizon has no similar conflict of interest and as soon as my contract expires, I'm going to try them.

Tiger Bend Rd. / Babin Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70817 Fri Apr 08, 2011

The AT&T Coverage Map is erroneous. It states that my area in question area is 'good'... when in fact it is 'poor'. The reception once you get past Antioch on Tiger Bend drops off to one bar at best and then will drop when trying to connect on a call. Most AT&T users in the Parterre and surrounding subdivisions along Tiger Bend usually resort to standing 'outside of their house' trying to get a working signal... and then it's usually a poor 1 bar quality signal with substantial dropped calls when you are able to get a signal at all. During rain or incliment weather conditions, there are absolutely no signal bars available at all. AT&T has known about this problem for over 15 years yet will do nothing to resolve the problem. My local AT&T store, the technical representatives and their management state that their coverage map is accurate and will not even bother to perform a test drive to see the problem first hand. They do admit however to maybe 'some' technical problems by allowing me a 'discount' on a microcell unit. All facts support severe technical coverage faults in the area and a microcell tower should be free to the users of this affected area.

Looks like from the comments above this has been a problem in this neighborhood for five years at least. AT&T is "Universal," eh? I have friends who live there and who drive through there and who have AT&T (as do I) and I'd bet my life there will be a dropped call 95% of the time. Average, the rest of the calls I make, probably only 20%, which is still way too high.

Bars fluctuate without moving from one spot. Can't stay on the phone more than 30 seconds AT MOST without the signal dropping completely off and dropping the call. I don't know if AT&T is leasing towers or just letting the ones they have fall apart but their business will surely go downhill quickly as their customer service is horrible. Put that together with dropping every call made and recieved in this area and the flat out lies the service reps are trained to tell the customer and there's just no way people will stay. WARNING... Beware of bundling your services with these crooks! You WILL get ripped off!

I am totally disappointed with AT&T dropped calls, late voicemails and poor signal. I just bought another phone and signed up with Verizon. My signal is strong, fast and reliable. I love my iphone, but consider it worthless. If AT&T would invest money in their towers like Verizon and Sprint, they wouldn't be losing customers like myself.

Lake Beau Pre and surrounding areas experience very bad reception. It's no suprise though as AT&Ts coverage map shows 'moderate' coverage for this area. Which translates to 'bad'. If you're planning to live in this region you may want to consider switching to a better provider. There is a Verizon antenna in clear view of my house so their coverage is most likely better.

The reception doesn't seem to be the problem with ATT. I drop calls constantly no matter how many bars I show. While talking with my wife this evening, I dropped the call 8 times during a 45 minute conversation. Absolutely horrible service! I drop a call about 90 percent of my conversations. If I stay on the phone long enough, it WILL drop. Two different phones, many locations, no matter how good the signal.

Changing from Motorola to Nokia cell phone improved reception, but I am still very unhappy with Cingular service in this area. With Motorola, phone was unusable 100% of the time. With Nokia, phone is usable 20% of the time, if I walk to the hottest spot in the house quickly enough or dial from there. I wonder what the incentive will be for AT&T / Cingular to improve cell service to neighborhoods now that they own both cell and land line. Excellent cell service will result in loss of land line customers. I think we are all screwed.

It in nearly impossible to get decent signal as soon as I pull into my subdivision. I have to go out into the driveway and wander around, hoping to find a ray of signal. It's HORRIBLE!! Several other areas around the country where I visit family the signal is so non-existent there's no point in even having a cell phone.

There is a tower directly behind Super target, you can see it in the parking lot! I dont know if this is an AT&T tower, but i'm pretty sure it was, becuase I had awesome signal! Reception is okay in our apartment. We signed up a little over two years ago. At that time, coverage was great and quality was a little better than average (but I suspect our phones were not helping). Since then, and especially since Katrina, call and connection quality has become POOR. 1 / 3 of dialed calls don't go out on the first attempt. Sometimes my phone, or my wife's phone, goes straight to voice mail even if we have reception at the time. 1 / 4 to 1 / 2 of all calls usually get disconnected (or I should say, go silent, and I have to hang up and re-dial... but I'm sure Cingular doesn't count that as a "dropped" call). I agree with others about frequently losing calls or dead time on Antioch between Old Jefferson and Tiger Bend. The only thing Cingular / AT&T has going for it is coverage area as a whole, but what used to be decent quality has gone to crap. Our contract is up, and we are considering Sprint, Verizon, and Alltel.

O'neal Lane / George O'neal, Baton Rouge, LA 70817 Sat May 19, 2007

Since Katrina, I have extremely poor reception in and near my home located in the Shenandoah subdivision. A young customer rep told me it was because the homeowners association would not let them locate a tower in our subdivision. When I ask him whose yard they were going to install it in, he just looked blank. Come on Cingular, I'm a big boy and can handle the truth. The system is overloaded since Katrina. The question is when and how are you going to return it to the service I had (and paid for) when I signed up with Cingular? The 60,000 or more people who moved to Baton Rouge after the storm aren't going back anytime soon. They are here and talking on their cell phones.

I live on Brightside Drive, go to school at both LSU and OLOL, and work off Bluebonnet. No matter where I am, service is HORRIBLE. I drop at least five calls a day, and can rarely finish a conversation without dropping a call. Sometimes when I call someone, their phone magically turns into a fax machine, and I get to enjoy a loud, high-pitched screeching noise in my ear. There are two dead spots between my house and OLOL, one of which is the entire Lee Dr.area. My contract ends this month, and I couldn't be more excited to switch service providers.

I live in Jackson Park, about maybe 1 / 4 mile from the Sheriff's substation. The reception at my house is HORRIBLE - sometimes no service, more often one or two bars. I have the Cingular "Every other Word" plan - can't make or receive a call from home - inside OR outside. Just called and complained after reading the big news release about Cingular "lighting up Baton Rouge" with their wonderful broadband service. They need to work on the voice service first! Also, coverage horrible on Joor road starting about Greenwell Springs coming toward Central. Also horrible at Florida Blvd. and Airline Hwy. - the biggest intersection in town! Cingular used to be pretty good, but in the last year or so it really sucks.

Like the others have mentioned, I cannot use my cell phone in my house... which as a business owner is a HUGE problem. I drop a call every day traveling up Antioch Rd.just off the interesection with Old Jefferson. Jefferson Hwy / Drusilla area reception is terrible. Prairieville reception is terrible. Cingular has always been my favorite provider after having tried the others but since Katrina reception has been terrible. I was told by an employee that they were switching to a new network which would launch in October and that was the reason why coverage had become so spotty as they brought towers down to upgrade. Well... it's October and it hasn't changed a bit.

Major problem keeping signal and call drops. Absolutely no reception in the house; must go away from the house. Even outside there is just couple of bars. On interstate passing between sherwood-Millerville the calls drop 90% of the time; same around the capital. I will be talking to some one and then suddenly someone else on the phone whom I dont know and they are as puzzled as I am. Sometimes you only hear the dropped in conversation, sometimes both parties can here as if we are connected. Most of the phone options Cingular have, the phone sucks. Wont even last for a year. I have 5 phones with family talk. Getting ready to change phone and stronly considering changing Cingular.

I had really no problems before the hurricane, but now it sucks. I pretty much cannot finish a phone conversation without having at least 1 or two sometimes 3 dropped calls with the same person mainly other Cingular customers. Also, at least once or twice a week, the person I am talking to will cut out and I will be listening in on another person's conversation totally, they can't hear me, but I can hear them. I am on my third phone this year, so I know it is not the phone, it has to be the service. I have been with Cingular since they were bellsouth since 1995. I have never had the problems that I have now. They should not be advertising fewest dropped calls. They need to come down here to Louisiana and do a survey and they will see the service here sucks. When I go back to Alabama I don't have near the problems I do here. So, cingular, please get your act together and get some more towers for all of the influx of people in the baton rouge area. Or as much as I hat to, I will be switching to a new carrier so that I can have a dependable service.

Cingular must have the worst coverage of anyone I know. Cuts out in the neighborhood, unusable indoors, dropped calls, and constant static. Customer service keeps claiming it is because of hurricane Katrina we get poor reception. Well, gimme a break, it's been 8 months. Re-build some frickin towers then. They have done almost everything in their power to keep us as customers, from rebooting phones to redownloading updates. "Call us from a problem area." they say. HELLO! I don't get reception in the problem areas... morons! If I can ever get out of this, we're switching to T-Moble or Verizon.

Their service is terrible and their customer service is worse. The snide idiot in their "customer service" department said they would consider knocking $12 off my bill as their records showed that I had many calls during Katrina. She basically called me a liar when I stated that 98% of those 1-2 minute calls consisted of me saying "hello, hello, hello" over and over again, then disconnected, while the meter ran. I canned them TODAY and will never look back. Cingular sucks, and Consumer Reports agrees with me.

I have excellent coverage on my phone. It's my main phone so im able to use it indoors at home and work. Phones are like any other electrical item, things go wrong: break, die out, etc. Cellular phone were meant to be used outdoors. On any contract that you sign with any cell company it will state they don't guarantee service inside of buildings, so if you have it, you're lucky enough to have a good phone. I was with Sprint before and constantly got dropped calls and "network busy" in and outdoors, but never with Cingular. I'm extremely happy with my service. Customer Service Reps could be better but the service is excellent.
