att does not have a clue on what is going on in the cell phone business. Dropped calls, static, and everything else in between. Their customer reps are ill prepared to help and can only make comments from a list given to them which was probably prepared by people who have never been in the field and thus have no conception of the what the customer is experiencing. Im switching to Verizon. ATT will be run out of the business by those companies who really care about customer satisfaction.

T-Mobile has poor reception more than a mile or 2 from I-20. This is worse with rain or inside buildings. I noticed they are selling plans at a stall in the Mall. Not really an appropriate carrier in this area of Louisiana.

Hey, AT&T! You just lost 5 customers to Verizon because you don't know how to keep a network up! BTW, we all love our Motorola Droids, HTC Eris, and Storm 2's. Know what else AT&T? Verizon has 3G all over the state!

Made the switch to Verizon Wireless today. I got tired of wating for AT&T to bring 3G in our area. They have been saying for the past year it would be here in the next 2 months! The next 2 months was 4 months AGO! AT&Ts EDGE network was really slow. Verizons network is great! I get full service and 3G everywhere! My data is fast and my coverage is great. A bunch of my friends are about to change to Verizon, too.

I had the AT&T BlackBerry Curve (GPS Curve). Like the person below said my data was EXTREAMLY slow. I asked the rep about it and he didn't know what was the matter. I did some research and found out AT&T was slowing down there EDGE data network to save money. I pay 30.00 for data that I can't even use really. I went ahead and ported my 4 lines over to this weekend. I got the Tour and my wife got the Curve. My Son got the Storm 2 and my daughter got the Pearl flip. We all love our phones! They all have GPS and they all pick up on Verizons 3G data network here. We got the Buy one Get one free deal on the BlackBerrys. Verizon has a great network here. We have not had any problems or drop calls.

Up until a few weeks ago, I could access any website on my Blackberry. However, it has become harder and harder to connect. My signal strength indicator may be three or four bars, but I still can't connect to the website - - and this did not start until recently.

Recently switched to Verizon Wireless from AT&T because of lack of Rural service. We love Verizon Wireless. They have a really good network in Louisiana. A lot better then AT&T does. We have extreamly happy with Verizon Wireless.

motorola e815 is the best phone out there for reception. I can use it in dead zones that other phones even with same service won't work.

I've used Alltel here in Monroe and all surrounding areas for four years. I have had little to no problems in any local areas, lowest number of bars used to be two in some friends homes but are generally four to five now (guessing towers were added over time.)

I live in the ULM Dorms and signal is horrible especially when the phone towers are down. It seems like the Cingular is down right now because I have absolutely no signal and can't even listen to my voicemail messages. I would recommend a different mobile phone carrier if you are going to live in Northern Louisiana and especially at ULM.

I get amazing reception whereever I go. Inside several homes where my friends leave their phones off, mine stays on and get a crystal clear signal. It's great to travel with as well. I've been to Baton Rouge, TupeloMS, and Shreveport recently. I have gotten great reception for most of the areas in between. I love it.

Always have gotten good service here - even just a few days after Katrina / Rita, unlike my T-Mobile phone which couldn't receive calls for over a month afterwards. The only place I find coverage spotty in Monroe is inside buildings, but the buildings at ULM are constructed from cinderblock which isn't too friendly to cell phone signals - even in those I normally have one or two bars, though, and pretty good voice quality. The network does seem to be overloaded down here - almost every 5th call I try to make results in a "Network Busy" error message and I have to try it again, but I imagine there aren't too many Cingular customers (and therefore towers) in Northeast LA.

Occasionally I will get service when I'm in this area. Usually, I have to drive toward U.S. 165 or I-20 in order to get any signal strength. Thankfully, I don't live in the area. I live in metro Atlanta but visit Monroe frequently.

As soon as you get out of the I-20, you start losing reception. I usually go to Baton Rouge and when I get out of the I-20 towards Winnsboro, I completely lose reception all the way to Baton Rouge.

Just "upgraded" to Cingular GSM from TDMA. Pretty good coverage in Monroe / West Monroe as well as along I20 going into Rayville. However, it is unable to get any network connection south of Baskin on LA 15, which is too bad since I drive to Winnsboro to work daily.
