Wow - This was the first time I was down for Mardi Gras with AT&T Service. It was terrible. I thought I had bad coverage in Virginia. For all you folks out there (like me) with 2 yr service contracts who live in NOLA... I feel for you. While this will not make you feel much better, AT&T does have a "personal tower" which you can plug into your home internet. Its not called that, but it may be your best option. AT&T I hope you are monitoring this... shame on you! How about spending that $4B which you lost in the failed takeover of TMobile on more towers and better capacity?!?

It seems better to throw phone while calling or receiving from at and t in my location. we complained to customer cares many times but they are not hearing. saying us to buy 199 device and have internet of at and t too.it was working very good before november last but now we ought to keep phones in showcase to see only.its totally useless and we are paying monthly bills to at and t for nothing.we have 2 yrs contract so are now victim of monopoly of at and t. I hate at and t but can not do anything... ..

My home has thick brick walls leading to very poor reception inside. Outside it's only a little better, with problems like dropping calls when you turn your head. The only good thing about the old 2G is that the Edge data reception is very reliable: it's not fast but I always have it, sometimes even when there's no voice.

Overall, AT&T is the most maddening criminal institution I've encountered in this city, second only to our institutions of public education and incarceration.

What in the world??? I live in Houston, Texas and my AT&T coverage is a dream. There were a bunch of dead pockets o coverage around New Orleans. Noticeably areas around the French Quarter, Treme and the Garden District. Using any navigtion on my iPhone was truly terrible. It was either way off base or couldn't find my location. I love my iPhone 4 but the AT&T coverage was lousy. My husband's Verizon blackberry worked better and had 5 bars majority of the time in New Orleans.

Terrible incoming and outgoing and transmission gets so poor that I have to walk around the house to find a hot spot just in order to talk. At least half of all calls are dropped which is incredibly maddening when you have made it through a fifteen minute menu and wait time and you finally get a person and... your call is dropped. My contract is up with AT&T and although I have been with them since the beginning of cell phones, I am done. We are breaking up.

April 28, 2011 AT&T Wireless is the worst since long before Katrina, and provided particularly unreliable support for 2 years afterward. I'll not bore you with a litany of additional complaints: Enough Proof is that I get the worst rate of dropped calls and garbled reception when I am speaking with someone who is also on AT&T wireless. Hands down, by far. I'll have to sell my $600.00 Phone for $20.00 when my contract expires in November so I can bail. -Beyond Exasperated in New Orleans

I can't talk to anyone. Calls to and from other cell phones sound like garbled mush. Doesn't work at all during holidays. Texts are sent and received hours late. I never hang up on anyone because the network usually ends my conversation. ATT worked when I was living in Boston. They should be ashamed of their service here.

Evidently AT&T didn't notice that crowds of humans congregate in New Orleans on certain holidays. Our AT&T reception has always been poor in this location, but it's simply inexcusable that the organization wouldn't plan ahead for the obvious fact that Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras concentrate surplus cellular users and over-burden the already weak network. I'm changing. My out-of-town friends report AT&T is about as weak everywhere, but at least they bother to deal with rock concerts in Philly or Seattle.

I recently moved to New Orleans from Cincinnati. I was shocked to find that I had almost no coverage anywhere! Back in Cincinnati the coverage was great and I rarely had problems. I dont understand how they can still be in business with coverage this terrible! I dont want to switch because I love my iPhone but the love is quickly fading. I cant make calls, I cant get 3g, therefore I cant use any of the apps that make the iPhone great.

I cannot use my AT&T Samsung phone on the first floor in my house. I have to go outside or upstairs. My AT&T wireless card for my laptop does not get strong signal either. Once I cross the high rise and get closer to dpwntown, it works better. My work phone is from Verizon and always has good signal and never drops calls. After almost 3 years now, this can no longer be blamed on katrina. I allowed AT&T to talk me into new 2 year contract. Now I have to wait until the end of 2009 to switch to verizon. AT&T SUCKS ! !

April 7, 2007 Cingular in New Orleans: 'Poor reception or no reception. 'Very unreliable since one year before Katrina (that's when I signed with Cingular.) This is my 4th phone as I keep begging Cingular for one with better reception. 'Can't get a straight answer from Cingular tech help people about which model picks up better. I strongly suspect it's because the Cingular network and the negligible amount of band width they provide me is the real problem. During rush hour, during french quarter fest, jazz fest, carnival, my Cingular network is so busy that my phone is almost unusable, and I am not in the crowds; not at the events. 20 or so trys eventually gets it. Dropped calls? Usually. Wait time to report difficulties with Cingular phone support? 15 to 20 minutes. (monumentally frustrating) What is acomplished when I report these "events"? Nothing. How small is the sliver of band width Cingular provides me? Anyone interested in a class action against Cingular? Cingular sure is good at collecting my $75.00 per month.

My cell phone service is abyssmal! My phone would better be used as a paperweight at this point. Calls can neither get through, nor can I make them without repeated attempts (usually 5 or 6). I am new to the city and I am a female so having a phone is a relevant part of feeling safe. I believe that Cingular has a lawsuit waiting to happen when someone needs to make a call for safety purposes and cannot and suffers some result. Any information on getting out of cingular?

My phone never rings, yet I recieve voicemail messages that I cannot check. I never have coverage and rarely am graced with the privelidge of having a call connect. On occasions when my calls DO connect, they are dropped. I am paying way too much money to never be able to use my phone. It isn't just in the house, either. When I walk outside into the yard to try and get coverage or driving down St. Charles, it rarely works, either. I want to throw the phone away. Cingular is HORRIBLE! Don't do it!

Reception at my house in Algiers has gone from bad to non-existant (most of the time). It was bad before Katrina. Now I have to go outside and use the antenna in the car to get any reception. I called Cingular to discuss the problem and they had to call me back on my land-line to have the discussion. While outside my house the incoming calls go directly to phone-mail because of the poor service. It takes 5-10 calls to connect to phone mail, while outside my house. I am 1 mile from the nearest tower. Cingular tells me they are upgrading the towers. We will see.

It is awful. I call the Cingular people (from my cell phone in my house) and repeat myself 10 times before they finally figure out that I'm complaining about the reception. Then they look it up and tell me I'm in a "high" reception area- so there shouldn't be a problem. I have 6000 rollover minutes because it's too annoying to talk on the phone and keep repeating myself so I just hang up. What a rip off.

I can never get reception in buildings. I have had Cingular send me several new phones to no avail. They claim the network is great here but I've been in large buildings in Dallas and could call without problems. The network in New Orleans is awful and Cingular will not recognize the problems. In the last conversation with them, I was told to go to the store, get a new phone and if it didn't work, they would replace it or I could use the 30-day guarantee to cancel my contract. Now I ask you, do I want to give Cingular another dollar? When I see the commercial about more bars in more places, it makes me sick!

I've had a AT&T / Cingular GSM (Moto V600) phone for over a year. Reception is spotty all over the New Orleans metro area, with lots of dead areas. Reception is good in the outer office / upper floors of my high-rise office, but disappears when you move to an interior hallway. Reception is poor if you're inside your home in the suburbs. I live in Terrytown, just across the river from downtown N.O., and I cannot send or receive a call without walking outside to the street. Everyone at the office has had the same trouble. My family signed up for a Cingular GSM account 1.5 years ago; nothing but complaints, regardless of phone type. I talked to a fellow from out of town today who was complaining about how poor Cingular service is in the N.O. area. Bottom line -- DO NOT sign up for Cingular GSM in New Orleans. A number of people at the office have dumped Cingular for Verizon, with good results.

No reception at all at home downtown! My old walmart tracfone actually has better reception. I've called Cingular repeatedly and they replace the antenna on my phone or tell me they're adding more towers or some other nonsense that doesn't help at all. You can't use your plan's minutes anyway with such poor reception. Might as well get a prepaid tracfone- I would have saved $400 this year. (and no I don't work for tracfone, I'm just really! unhappy with cingular)
