Long known to be a dead spot full of people, even much before Katrina, and still pretty bad. However, I think it's gotten better lately. I can now drive through that intersection without losing my signal entirely.

Reception here's gotten MUCH better. Still some busy signals around 5-6pm when everybody's driving around, but much better than it was.

reception is fairly good in most areas of city. However, calls are almost always dropped in my neighborhood, especially in my house. There is an absolute dead zone on I-10 West over the Spillway.

My cell phone service is abyssmal! My phone would better be used as a paperweight at this point. Calls can neither get through, nor can I make them without repeated attempts (usually 5 or 6). I am new to the city and I am a female so having a phone is a relevant part of feeling safe. I believe that Cingular has a lawsuit waiting to happen when someone needs to make a call for safety purposes and cannot and suffers some result. Any information on getting out of cingular?

Outside signal is fine, but inside there can be problems depending on the house. For example, in my apartment (Carrollton area) I get no signal if not near a window or the door.

My phone never rings, yet I recieve voicemail messages that I cannot check. I never have coverage and rarely am graced with the privelidge of having a call connect. On occasions when my calls DO connect, they are dropped. I am paying way too much money to never be able to use my phone. It isn't just in the house, either. When I walk outside into the yard to try and get coverage or driving down St. Charles, it rarely works, either. I want to throw the phone away. Cingular is HORRIBLE! Don't do it!

Switched from Sprint because of poor reception, but Cingular is even worse. Most of my calls get dropped or the conversation is unintelligible because of the spotty reception. Reception is non-existant inside buildings.

ZERO RECEPTION. Has to travel all the way down to uptown to get SOME signal. This can't be happening. Cingular refuse to waive cancelation fee.

Reception at my house in Algiers has gone from bad to non-existant (most of the time). It was bad before Katrina. Now I have to go outside and use the antenna in the car to get any reception. I called Cingular to discuss the problem and they had to call me back on my land-line to have the discussion. While outside my house the incoming calls go directly to phone-mail because of the poor service. It takes 5-10 calls to connect to phone mail, while outside my house. I am 1 mile from the nearest tower. Cingular tells me they are upgrading the towers. We will see.

Reception Indoors is anemic at best. Before the storm, Cingular was the only carrier that had reliable reception in my house. Now, it is just as dicey as the other carriers. I'd love to find a repeater for sale cheap or something to boost the signal enough to get solid reception.

Always have reception. Except in WalMart. Other than that it depends on the phone I think. My husband has cingular, and he always misses or drops my calls.

It is awful. I call the Cingular people (from my cell phone in my house) and repeat myself 10 times before they finally figure out that I'm complaining about the reception. Then they look it up and tell me I'm in a "high" reception area- so there shouldn't be a problem. I have 6000 rollover minutes because it's too annoying to talk on the phone and keep repeating myself so I just hang up. What a rip off.

Average to below average reception outside, however inside a wood frame house the reception is bad. Drops are often and scrambled connections are also a problem. T-Mobile used to be good until Hurricane Cindy hit. The network hasn't been the same since and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Everytime I call they blame it on my phone. My contract is up in July and I am looking for another carrier

You weak whiners; get a clue! If I were to invest millions of $ in transmission / repeater towers, why would I invest in a severely flood-prone area? That seems irresponsible, expensive, and counterproductive. Solution: Move to a place with more towers and better coverage (... and I'll bet you suffer less storm damage and pay less on insurance).

Bad reception -- almost none in house. Figures because this company has no towers near my house -- look at the map and it seems like Verizon has towers everywhere.
