It is awful. I call the Cingular people (from my cell phone in my house) and repeat myself 10 times before they finally figure out that I'm complaining about the reception. Then they look it up and tell me I'm in a "high" reception area- so there shouldn't be a problem. I have 6000 rollover minutes because it's too annoying to talk on the phone and keep repeating myself so I just hang up. What a rip off.

Reception is OK. It's not great, and inside just about any building you can't call, but things have gotten better since I changed phones from the Samsung xgh427.

at least one thing has stayed the same since the hurricane: cingular's coverage still sucks. it was bad to begin with and it hasn't changed. dropped calls, no reception, incoming calls missed or routed to voice mail, no indoor reception, etc. looks like no one here has anything good to say about them. where do I sign up for the class action suit?

Overall, service is good. I found it essential living in a concrete walled building to have a phone with an external antenna, instead of the built in one that you see with the base Nokia model. The typical Sprint dropped calls applies here, but I seem to get it a bit less. What I get most is the "never processed calls". You dial a number, push send, the timer begins and there is nothing. You hang up and try again, and it goes through. Overall, I have found the Sanyo base / mid phones to be better than the base / mid Nokia phones

Nextel's cellular service has become increasingly poor in New Orleans. I don't know what alternative carrier to turn to since they all seem to especially suck in Louisiana. Nextel used to be okay up until two years ago; I'm not sure what happened? Many individuals choose not to go with Cingular because of the corporation's goat-screw tactics of the past. Cingular is out to monopolize the market; nevertheless, screw-over the world as it always has.

I have had so many problems with my Sprint service here: hundreds of dropped calls etc. Other services are stronger in New Orleans

Evidently AT&T didn't notice that crowds of humans congregate in New Orleans on certain holidays. Our AT&T reception has always been poor in this location, but it's simply inexcusable that the organization wouldn't plan ahead for the obvious fact that Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras concentrate surplus cellular users and over-burden the already weak network. I'm changing. My out-of-town friends report AT&T is about as weak everywhere, but at least they bother to deal with rock concerts in Philly or Seattle.

I get amazing reception in New Orleans with Alltel. I rarely ever have had less than two bars anywhere and dropped calls are pretty rare. Even inside an old shotgun house with solid cypress planks in the wall (where my Tracfone that used AT&T gsm and another before that that used t-mobile's networks couldn't ever get a call inside the house, plus it's right next to another similar shaped house) my Alltel cdma phone can get and receive calls reliably.

Just got the new T-Mobile Wing and was very excited about the phone and the excellent coverage T-Mobile told me I had at my house... 4 to 5 bars they said. HOWEVER... I seem to only register at best 2 bars. Is this what T-Mobile thinks is excellent coverage? Many times I don't even have a signal. And many times I've gotten my voice messages from the previous evening the next morning because that is how long it took before a signal registered on my phone. Not sure what the deal is but shame on you T-Mobile for the poor coverage and the false advertising of coverage.

reception is fairly good in most areas of city. However, calls are almost always dropped in my neighborhood, especially in my house. There is an absolute dead zone on I-10 West over the Spillway.
