At&t's network in Shreveport / Bossier is bipolar. Their 3G service is inconsistent at best, and is not as well deployed as their 2G EDGE network. I have no trouble with dropped calls or data connections using a 2G Blackberry 8520, but i've tried several 3G phones in this area, and none of them exhibit optimal 3G performance. It seems that for every 3-4 EDGE towers in the area there are only 1-2 3G towers available; as their 3G network seems quite underdeveloped here. If your not using a 2G phone or don't have a phone that allows you to manually select 2-3G, i'd stay away from AT&T in this area.

If you are looking for a cell phone company... It's my suggestion that you avoid Cingular like the plague. I'm not up on what's going on with the whole AT&T / Cingular purchase or if that has anything to do with my problems. It's bad enough that I drop... Well, Cingular drops my calls from one room of my house to another. Dare I say, I wouldn't piss on Cingular if they were on fire. Oh, and to the person that posted "you get what you pay for" when talking about the "free phones". First off, what phone store do you work at? I have a Treo 650 on Cingular and my wife has the "freebie" phone from Alltel... The difference is like night and day! Mine sucks, hers does not. So, as you can see... Cingular sucks and Alltel does not. Perhaps you should forward your "you get what you pay for" speech to the higher-ups and tell them to apply that to how they purchase towers and employee selection. Here's a list of my woes with Cingular... Dropped calls galore! VERY poor audio quality and volume when you are lucky enough to be able to make a call. CSR that make the DMV look good. Missed calls and messages due to Cingular "raising the bar" again. Eh... I'll leave it at that. If not, I'll be here all day. Just know, if you like torture and the feeling that you are throwing money down the toilet... Then Cingular is for you!

hey guy on panther dr., you have a phone that at7t had started to decommission three years ago. since, Cingular has taken over we have become more agressive because only 1 -2% of our customers are still on TDMA (digital) service. Advice, come up to the past three years with a GSM phone and you will see improvement. I promise.

Cingular sucks! I was an AT&T customer forced to migrate over - after being told by Cingular that "sooner or later all us AT&T people would be forced to migrate when we no longer were able to use our non-GSM phones" There is a spot on N. Hearne near Sport Blanchard where my phone ALWAYS goes dead! The other day, my call was cut off 4 times during a 12 minute commute to work. 4 TIMES - that's pathetic! I also have issues with "Call Failed", not getting my missed calls or voice mail until the next day, echos, garbled conversations and the best yet - twice, I have been cut into someone elses conversation - losing the person I was talking with- but able to talk with a complete stranger! I am also fed up with Cingular catering to new customers - my son broke his phone and I was told "since you didn't take our advice and get insurance, the cheapest phone available to you is $219" WHAT - why would I pay $219 to replace a phone that was FREE to being with? So, like several others, I will be forced to buy him another phone on ebay. The moment my contract is up (10 / 07), if I can't find a way out sooner, I am changing carriers! I just worry that once Cingular takes over all the towers, they will have the monopoly on the cell phone service and other carriers will start to decline??? I hate it when consumers are forced to go with a company because they are the only choice! There, I feel better now!

All of you winers just throw ur pretty little razr in the trash(or any other Motorola phone) and get a real phone, dont blame Cingular because your phone is junk. I fell for the "razr hipe" but realized it was junk like every other razer owner. I got a 2125 smartphone and love it, awesome signal and features. My wife trashed here rokr and got a decent Nokia and now has excellent service also. They need to put the dam razr in a go phone box, LOL!

I am a former AT&T customer that was at the end of a contract, got the Cingular service. Where do I start? We leave the cell phones at home (no kidding!) We don't get decent service anywhere, In fact I think service would not be appropriately defining what I get from cingular. I had AT&T never ever dropped a call, God help me, I was not even certain what a dropped call was. I do not use the cell phone I have now without the call dropping, I can't hear the person (warbled), or something else. Lately I get a message when I dial my husband that his phone number is not a working number. My 16y / o I have about a 50 / 50 chance of getting the call to go through. What did they do? Sabatoge the AT&T towers that were up? How did they screw up at phone system that was working? My favorite is when I get through to customer service and they tell me I have great service! (I'm quoting them!)It's not just my family but everyone in the area I know with cingular.

On one of the busiest roads in Shreveport and Bossier, the coverage disappears for about a mile. It's so consistent that I tell people that I'll be unable to talk until I go over the bridge. The traffic counts in this area are over 25,000 per day and Cingular hasn't recognized the business value of delivering a usable, much less outstanding product in this area.

Here is the reason why so many people experience dropped calls. Calls are dropped upon handoff between cells within the same provider's network. This may be due to an imbalance of traffic between the two cell towers' zones. If the new tower is at capacity, it cannot accept the additional traffic of the new call. If the phone cannot find an alternative cell to move to that can take over the call, the call is lost. If you are with Cingular, I was told that the network in Louisiana will be fully integrated by June of 2006. If you experience network issues; either get over it or by a Nokia phone and quit complaining. The cellular network that you use is only as good as the equipment that you use. Bag phones used to cost $1,000 plus, but for some reason people think that they wil get great service with a free phone. Guess what? You get what you pay for.

Well I posted here back in May of 2005 and nothing has gotten better. I have gone through three warranty exchanges finally resulting in a different model phone, yet with no resolve. Whether I cannot get a signal at all or have full bars, I still miss or drop calls repeatedly. After endless hours on the phone with support, warranty exchange and other assorted Cingular clowns I have gone from being told I was in a great coverage area to I was in a minimal coverage area; from I have one of the best phones on the market to my phone is crap and I should shell out another $300 for a new phone. I challenge each and every one of you having issues to call Cingular support and find out where the tower is located you are pulling from. Both phones on my account pull from a tower in Richland, MS... over 200 miles away from here! I recently received a text message from Cingular tech support stating the following... "Dropped call issue is affecting several customers in area. Being resolved by several departments. Thanks Dan / tech Cingular" Now I know personally I have spent close to 20 hours on the phone with Cingular just since April. I am on the verge of cancelling my contract with Cingular. You see, a little known, or realized, fact is that contracts with cell phone companies work both ways. The customer signed a contract commiting to pay a monthly fee for a provided service, while Cingular signs a contract agreeing to provide a service for a monthly fee. When I don't pay my bill, what happens? Cingluar cuts me off and I pay an astronomical amount of mney to get service restored, my credit is affected, etc. What happens when Cingular fails to provide service? They are in breach of contract and should be held in contempt. I challenge everyone reading this that has Cingular to not roll over and let them get the best of you. It is a frustrating road, but if enough speak out, issues will be resolved or Cingular will find their way out of the area. If you are looking for a cell provider, I can say personally Cingular should be dead last on your list.

The number of bars has no effect on Cingular's lack of service here. They can drop a call and still have bars showing. I am losing business because of dropped or missed calls and I am on the 8th floor of the Chase Bank. Many of the calls that are actually completed deteriorate into a conversation with Darth Vader, then garble and finally dropped. Contract is up next month with Cingular and we are interviewing the competition right now. Too much money spent on TV ads and sponsoring local sporting events leaves nothing to maintain a cell system. Too bad!

Had AT&T for 10 years with no problems. Since Cingular bought AT&T, it's been nothing but headaches. Constant dropped calls. People say they call, but can't get through to my phone or get a busy signal (even when I'm not on the phone). My phone goes mute on my end (others can hear me, but I can't hear them). I hear other people's conversations (as if the lines are crossing). Frequently can't place calls... get an error message of "Call Failed" or "Network Busy". Recently, my phone simply adopted another phone number. I started getting someone else's calls. If people called my number it never went through and when I called them, their caller ID displayed another number. When I asked Cingular tech support about the problem, they said they didn't have a clue what to do.

My reliable Nokia 5165, after 2 1 / 2 years of reliable service, suddenly was unable to get service beginning of November. After wasting my time with the puppets at the local store (Kingstone and Bert Kouns), and list readers at the Customer Service number, they told me that it was the phone (funny I could customer service on it) and referred me to the insurance office to get a new phone. Despite having paid insurance each month, I still had to pay $50 to get another phone. A couple days later the new phone comes in. It can not get service either. Back on the phone with Customer Service. They tell me that this phone will not work with my service. Fed up at this point with Cingular, I tell them to cancel my account. They put in an order to cancel my account on November 12th. I left the phone on and hooked up to the charger. A few days later on November 10th, I was supprised when the phone actually started ringing! I decided since it was working now and to avoid any new contracts I would continue to use Cingular. I cancelled the cancellation. This service performed flawlessly... for about a week. Suddenly everthing was long distance, and I could not dial nextdoor without the area code. After couple of days of this, I stopped at a different (independent) Cingular office. The manager here was quite straitforward and said they after hundreds of calls Cingular admitted (but only to its managers) to having problems in Shreveport that morning. He said that it has to do with Cingular trying to integrate the Cingular and ATT equipment together into one network. The main problem I am having is that my parents try to call me they get the messege that I am away from my phone (they are on Cingular themselves). Cingular did well up until about a month ago. After having to deal with Customer Service I cannot recommend Cingular to anyone.

Not on average, but all at once in certain areas (where previously call reception was fine), calls are getting dropped. I have had more dropped calls since I have switched than ever. There are times that I am suprised that I see 2 bars on my phone. From my experience, Cingular is pathetic in Shreveport. And their customer service is second to crap. CSR told me when I asked him what I had to do to make this $70 a month service usable, he basically told me to deal with it. Sad.
