So, I had Alltel, and as you may know, Verizon Wireless bought Alltel so all Alltel tower are owned by Verizon. My contract was up on Alltel, and I go to Shreveport a lot and went ahead and signed up with Verizon for my family of 5. They have really really cool phones! V Cast so you can watch TV and download music! They have Navagators (spelling?) on there phones also! My kids love it! I got my son a Nokia Dark Knight phone, my wife a Samsung Gleam in Purple, 2 girls EnV2s in Maroon, and me an LG Dare. The service is wonderful and customer service is awesome. Anyone who is up in there contrace should thy theres people out, you have 30 days too and if you dont like it you can take it back and not pay anything!

alltel which is formerly centurytel and headquarted in monroe, la works great in this part of the state, has the best rural reception. my job is to sell mobile phones, I set people up on alltel, cingular, and sprint, Alltel is the best and Cingular runs a close second. do not get sprint, nextel, or T-Mobile in this area or you will be very disappointed. understand that cell phones are not perfect and that all providers have dead spots. I also find that many people despise providers not because of a poor network; usually there was a billing issue that caused some grief.

As a cell phone sales person, I hear these type of complaints all the time, and the problem I have is that people rush into buying a phone / service with o understanding that cell service is not perfect, and is largely problematic at the network level, not the phone. On top of that people bring in phones and complain about them, and it looks as if the phone was dragged behind a vehicle, come on people! And lastly read the small print on your contract, the companies tell you that cell service is not perfect, quit assuming its all good and research before you buy, and try not to commit to a 2 year contract.

AT&T, which is now Cingular has very good service in Monroe / W. Monroe. I have tried Sprint and Alltel and ATT / Cingular is much better than both. Highly recommended.

We are new to the area and have been with Sprint for 15 years... ... .my husband and I both have 3G Droid phones and hardly ever have over 2 to 3 bars on our pones in the W. Monroe area. We have dropped calls and my husbands phone goes dead in 1 / 2 day searching for signal if we are in the Monroe area :-(... ... we are not happy and will be talking to Spint to close out our accounts asap! Seems like Verizon is the best around here... ..

I can't belive they would let there network go down so bad, and not do anything about it for so long. It all started September of this year. They kept saying it would get better, they just don't know when. I just bought out of my contract and went to Verizon last week. Pretty bad, cause I been with Cingular / Att sence 2001.

Absolute pitiful service from AT&T with my iphone. I've had spotty and no service at all at my house and in town all weekend.

Reception so bad the company had to let me out of my 2yr agreement. They couldn't get a single call to go through to my phone or my husbands Treo. They did not make me pay the cancellation fee.

My reception with AT&T is great everywhere but here. If you look at their coverage map it says good. Seems like the antennas go up and down a lot in this area. AT&T please help us out we love your service. Towers too far away in this area. Investigate putting an antenna on the tower at Fullers Store on Hwy. 34.

South and North of I-20 Through Monroe and West Monroe there is no to very poor coverage in some very big areas. Roaming partners available but, seems to be no agreements. Why?

My service is with Alltel, and it is terrible. I'm lucky if it even rings through, (Mostly goes to voicemail without ever ringing) and if it does I'm only able to keep the call maximum of 5-7 seconds, before the call is dropped. I have absolutely 0 signal strength. And 99% of the time my phone switches to analog. It is extremely aggrevating.
