Calls always get dropped this area. Apparently folks who pay big bucks to live in this area only use landlines.. very frustrating... .. get better reception in NH!

AT&T reception was never great, but now its literally nonexistent. No service in belmont ctr, no service in my home, friends all complain. I will be switching for sure - and I know others will as well.

The AT&T service in downtown Belmont (2nd floor even!) is CONSISTENTLY awful: while showing one bar of service, inability to make calls, text messages bounced back as undeliverable, dropped or distorted incoming calls, etc.

Verizon is so abysmal in Belmont I came to this site to try and find a new carrier after 10 years with Verizon. Beyond frustrating--no signal, dropped calls, can't even get texts to send! If I didn't get charged for the time I can't use my phone that'd be a different story... but a big bill shows up every month, even if a final never does!

I just moved here and all I get is drop calls. No reception whats so ever. I was thinking about switching to Verizon maybe.

Jan 14, 2011 Brand new Sprint HTC Evo Shift 4G Phone. I bought this Phone and Everything plan to get rid of my home phone and T-Mobile Crap service Because of The Sprint Map says I have 4g. -> I can't get Any 4G in or around my home! -> I get 1 bar for voice and data if I am lucky. I am very disappointed!

We live near the top of a hill. We get almost no reception in the home. In summer, with windows open I still need to wander around the house trying to find a signal. We routinely miss calls and they are often not posted to our phone til hours later. Often we show 5 bars and attempt to make a call to have the call not go through, needing to redial multiple times from different locations. Outside the house the signal is similarly weak.

Much better than Verizon (don't have to go outside) but I have to find a place in the house where I get enough bars and then stay there. We are close to the center. For some reason, when I am in the center I get decent reception. Otherwise, we get poor reception. We need to keep a landline for emergencies. We would not have one otherwise.

Very disappointed with my reception. I moved here from Brighton, and didn't even think to make sure I had good reception - I live in suburban Boston for crying out loud! Reception is very unreliable both inside and out of the building. Most of my friends and family know not to call me anymore because I lose most calls in less than a minute.

Just moved to Belmont and I guess the snobs in this town don't want to ruin their property values by putting up cellphone towers, as a result I can't talk on my phone unless I go outside and even then I only get one bar. This is the only time I've ever had bad reception with Verizon in 5 years.

Aagh! I just got Verizon because I wanted better service in general, but then I moved to Belmont and... no bars. How sad. Every time I make a phone call I get a loud BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP and a message saying "CALL WAS LOST." It seems so wrong. Is this because Belmont won't get a tower?

Bad reception in house and yard (1-2 bars). An expensive antenna in attic improved things a little (2-3 bars when close to transmitter). Having the battery fully charged seems to help the most. Cingular (now AT&T) and T-Mobile were both better here. Annoying because reception is good most other places I go.

Reception is poor but dependable with my old Nokia phone. I tried several other phones before I found one that would work at all.

Barely get reception in Belmont center for Verizon wireless on the blackberry, LG phone is a bit better, but not spectacular.

NO reception with Cingular in family home near Town Field.

We do not have service unless we are a few feet away from the building. Some co-workers have a bar or two, but all Verizon users get the message "Searching System" that wastes the battery. We have to remember to turn our phones off every morning when we arrive. How annoying!

I have read a lot comments on the top carriers and it seems to me that they all have the same problem... good reception all around. Is anyone of them really that better than the other?? I doubt it. But one thing I notice is choice of equipment and Cingular beat everyone by far. My opinion though, but check for yourself. I am currently with at&t / cingular and my contract ends in 3 wks but couldn't decide my next choice of carrier cause they all have the same problem..GOOD RECEPTION ALL AROUND.

4 / 4 bars (phone doesn't go to 5) inside a small brick apartment a block off Waverley Square.

Typically only 1 bar inside, 3 outside. this is a small brick building of 4 tiny apartments so really the size of a single-family house. Better right in Waverley Square than on this side street. About to switch carriers / phones.
