Calls dropped every third minute - I've had Verizon for years and never had a problem until I moved down here. Very frustrating.

Never had a problem with Verizon coverage in this area. I'm getting a smartphone and Verizon is too much of a price to pay. I was told T-Mobile was great in this area as well. So I'm swithching.

Usually all set at work and downtown. However, no reception in the basements anywhere.

Verizon works great in Back Bay and seems pretty good throughout most of Boston. I have occasional dropped calls but don't recall having hit a "dead spot" in the city. I am considering switching to T-Mobile because they have better phones and cheaper plans... I'm just not sure how T-Mobile performs throughout the rest of the Boston metro area.

Cingular's always been good in this area at the top of Beacon Hill, along with Verizon (except sometimes indoors). I just wish someone would post about T-Mobile, which I am planning to move to for a new phone.

What carrier works in South Boston????

T-Mobile used to be spotty in Boston but is now great. I even get reception in some T stations and definitely all over the city!

widely variable by 20 foot chunks. Can almost always make calls, but frequently can't get them.

Terrible! I had perfect reception with AT&T, then the merger came. First I had a Motorola v551 - couldn't hear a thing - constantly dropped. Cingular sent me now a Nokia 6102i, telling me Motorolas don't work well with their network - DUH - um, hello - why you send me it to begin with?? Anyway - the NOkia is just as bad. Now my fight continues - they said if it didn't work IN MY APARTMENT, they would let me cancel my contract and not charge me the $175! Now I hope this board will help me choose the right carrier for this area! Unreal! Cingular - LOWERS THE BAR!

In my apartment I fluctuate between 0 and 1 bars. Definitely can't talk at all inside. I have to go outside and walk around the corner where I usually can get a sweet spot of 3-4 bars. But this is in rare locations and in general outside I will have 2 bars.

Like clockwork... .AT UMASS / Boston redlight... .."beep, please try again"... getting really sick of the reports about dropping calls that fall on deaf ears

Right by the State Police Barracks... .forget it... .I always tell whoever I'm on the phone with that I'll call them back. Reception won't come back until I'm at I st in Southie.

Never any service... .dropped calls all the time... .Sprint / Nextel's response is "Sir we are working on adding more antennas in your area but it won't happen overnight". Its been almost 10 months not overnight. Can't wait for the contract to be up.

tmobile is great everywhere, except Seaver st in roxbury. and I go everywhere from boston to waltham.

Non existent reception in most areas in Pepperell, MA, pathetic really.

i think that the battery goes out to fast and you never gey servis.

Spotty reception and dropped calls throught out the city. I live on top floor of a brownstone with clear view of back bay (no tall buildings around) and I lose signal from front to back of my building.

Drop Calls all the Time, Many different model phones still the same result. Dead spots all over this end

wow. I don't have a home phone line, and i'm totally screwed. I can't wait to be done with my Cingular contract. it is ridiculously bad. I can't use my phone in my apartment, even near the window really.
