I get perfect reception in most of Boston, but there are some spots with no signal at all: 1. The Memorial drive twist betwen Galeria mall and MIT 2. Crossing BU bridge 3. Getting off Storrow drive to Fenway 4. Parts of Sudbury and soranding towns. 5. Parts of Rt. 109 in Medway area. 6. Tr 93 Medford area 7. Lee and Newton street area in Chestnut Hill. Happy with the servise. Not happy with the upgrade phones and the way they offer things to strangers, but not to the loyal long term customers.
Nextel completely sucks in this area, and everyone I know hates it. It will jump from 4 bars to none in a second. You will generally drop your call if you are on any longer then a minute. Especially if you are doing business in this area, do not get Nextel.
Great outside. Sucks when in some places, I've been looking around, thinking about adding Sprint Treo 650 for business purposes, great site, good insight, definately something to look up before signing a 1-2 year contract :).
Sprint's gotten a lot better outside, I think. However, my apartment is on the ground level of a brownstone and only have service next to my window. Anywhere else in the small apartment, and I lose signal.
i get full reception in 98% of the places I go. can't beat the T-Mobile service in dorchester, or in downtown boston, and all over the city, I even get reception in dowtown crossing T station(underground), and park street station. I reccomend T-Mobile for anyone in these areas.
Reception used to be 3 bars back when I had an A500. Calls would get dropped every once in a while, but it was not a major problem. Recently I've "upgraded" to a A680 and it seems like I'm having much more trouble connecting and keeping a call from dropping. Sometimes I'll drop 4 or 5 times in a matter of 3-4 minutes- very distracting. I've installed an external trucker antenna, which does maximize the bars, but every once in a while I will still drop a call, and reception will vary from no bars to full in a matter of seconds. I'm trying to determine what is causing this but I can't. Maybe no direct line of sight with tower, or weird air density in the winter, but no idea really.
