I always have reception. I have reception underground (Park St. Downtown Crossing and South Station) I have 2-3 bars inside my school building, but it is brick.
The people who are having reception problems with verizon in boston need to make sure it is not a problem with the phones. Almost every phone verizon services now gets full reception in most of boston, after all, verizon is the landline carrier and practically own the boston telecom market. remember, new every 2, one of the phones listed i know is over 2 years old, go to the store.
I get absolutely no reception in my building and I'm lucky to get any reception outside. Does anybody have a provider / phone that gets reception in Southie? I had visitors who got great reception, but I stupidly didn't ask for their phone plans.
Terrible, 4 bars is a dream. I'm happy when I'm between 2 and 3, and when I place a call 3 times out of 7 the reception just dies off and I can't hear anything. My text message are delayed greatly... sometime I even receive them over 24 hours later. I get a try again error 3 times out of 5 and to tell the truth this is extremely frustrating. I am greatly dissapointed and overall this provider seems to be a joke.
No reception around the Berklee College of Music area whatsoever... none. Even on the top floor of the Berklee dorms no service up high or street level.
I'm mystified by the folks reporting problems with Verizon. I have used my frequently dropped and otherwise abused Motorola V60 all over the city and burbs with no problems whatsoever. I switched off of Sprint four / five years ago and have no complaints about phone service. Their customer service, however, sucks and I am desperately trying to find another carrier with comparable coverage who will pamper me.
I'm right at the Brookline / Boston border near BU. I get no reception indoors. I get 5 bars outside but for some reason can't make a phone call. I have to go at least 0.5 mile to get reliable / usable signal. I've had Verizon for years and in the last 8 months their service seems to have gotten worse.
Usually good service around the hill, even indoors. The only spots with problems have been downtown, near the water and Quincy Market, but that has gotten better in 2004. Some places in Allston are also bad, but most everywhere around the city has been good.
Good reception on the street near JFK / UMASS train station, in my 3rd floor apartment. My E105 seems to have better reception than my friend's T-Mobile Motorola V300.
