Usually good service around the hill, even indoors. The only spots with problems have been downtown, near the water and Quincy Market, but that has gotten better in 2004. Some places in Allston are also bad, but most everywhere around the city has been good.
I have had AT&T and an iPhone 3GS for 10 days. It's going back to the store tomorrow. I had Verizon for 6+ years and never dropped a call. I have 4 dropped calls in 8 days with AT&T. Completely embarassing. The iPhone is incredible as a device, but the service is an incredible let down. Switching back to Verizon tonight.
T mobile used to be great up until 3 days ago. I am going to give them a couple more days, but I just dont get any service in this area, or maybe a bar once in a blue moon.
Cingular's always been good in this area at the top of Beacon Hill, along with Verizon (except sometimes indoors). I just wish someone would post about T-Mobile, which I am planning to move to for a new phone.
wow. I don't have a home phone line, and i'm totally screwed. I can't wait to be done with my Cingular contract. it is ridiculously bad. I can't use my phone in my apartment, even near the window really.
Verizon works great in Back Bay and seems pretty good throughout most of Boston. I have occasional dropped calls but don't recall having hit a "dead spot" in the city. I am considering switching to T-Mobile because they have better phones and cheaper plans... I'm just not sure how T-Mobile performs throughout the rest of the Boston metro area.
