I just moved to Brighton MA, and my cell phone signal is terrible. My signal says S.O.S. in the whole apartment. I get one bar when I am on the front porch. I am so frustrated!

I've had Cingular / AT&T for several years. I've never had any reception problems, in my home or elsewhere, until I moved to this part of Brighton (Cleveland Circle / BC area). I often get static, dropped calls and no bars in and around my apartment- not all the time, but enough that I'm considering switching.

I work as a real estate agent in allston. I live on nottinghill rd in brighton, inside the comm ave-colborne-wallingford triangle, I also conduct alot of business in back bay, downtown, jamaica plain, newton, brookline and watertown. always have reception everywhere. but I gotta get an iphone, so ill give AT&T a try, ppl claim their service in brighton is fine, so we'll see, but Sprint works great, this coming from a guy who hits all the streets in the area, talking on the phone. highly recommended.

It's driving me crazy that I have absolutely NO service with Cingular in Brighton. It's my only phone and I am considering cancelling and moving to Verizon... sucks!

I had Sprint for years. The were awful in Brighton. The phone (LG I forget the model) got between 1-0 bars. I lost most calls within 5 minutes. I got a Motorola Razr with Cingular service last week. I get between 3-5 bars and havent lost a call yet. If you are having reception problems I suggest going into a Cingular store. You give them your address and they show how many bars that paticular area should get - very helpful.

Cingular does not work in Brighton. They said their nearest tower is out of service. No plans to fix it. Thanks Cingular!

My reception is horrible. I may have a good connection for a second and then I'll move slightly and I lose my connection or the call drops altogether. It is so tiring and maddening trying to talk to anyone on the phone as half our conversation is on if they can hear me or not. Stay away from Nextel if you live in this area. I just cancelled / non-renewal of my contract and am moving to either T-Mobile or Verizon as it seems these are much better in this area.

Coming from Soldier's Field Rd / Nonantum Rd. up Parsons St. causes a handoff issue near the bottom of the hill. Reception is just fine travelling in the opposite direction (down the hill towards the river). All calls get dropped when driving up Parsons street, then reception suddenly goes to all bars.

Reception has been very good to perfect with Verizon, but their service if you lose your phone is hideously bad. It will take them up to 5 business days to replace your phone, and that's IF you have the replacement insurance. First they will outsource your call to India (with a bungling compnay called "Insurion") or someplace with a marginal English speaker who, if true to my experience, will botch and delay your replacement order. When you call back to find out where your phone is, they'll make more excuses and still won't be able to say when you'll get your phone replacement. They're supposed to replace it within one day good luck! You'll be lucky to get it at all. So if you can go without your cell phone for 5 days (I can't), go ahead and get Verizon. As for me, I'm switching to another company, ANYBODY but Verizon.

I moved to the area in the beginning of October, and had no reception at all. Then, two weeks ago, suddenly the reception is perfect!

It works at times, but every other day the phone frized by itself. The problem is that you would not know if someone is trying to reach you because the phone looks like if is working. When I call custamer services they made me repeat the same proces every time (turn off and on or master reset). At the end they realized that the problem was not the phone but the signal was poor. However, the store will charge you restocking fee, connection fee, and the minutes that you have used when you return the phone. This is a nonsense because the problem was out of my hands. If you return it after the 15 day trial period they will charge you $200 more. Good luck and becareful with these business majors.

Inside I get one bar... oh wait, it's two now. Sometimes I get full signal, then a few seconds later I get nothing. If I angle the phone so that the bottom is perpendicular to the east wall, then I get good coverage. This is dumb. Sprint is dumb.

I switched recently from SprintPCS (2G service) to T-Mobile (GPRS) and I've found it to be a night and day difference. I had zero service with SprintPCS, I have perfect reception with T-Mobile, and the data service is very reliable. A+ also goes to T-Mobile customer service, maybe the nicest customer service professionals I've ever spoken to in any industry.
