AT&T iphone 3GS reception on Boston College main campus is terrible. It often can't find any cellular signal at all. I've sometimes used Skype on the internet instead of using the cell phone minutes I pay for, because of the reception. In coolidge corner area, calls drop constantly. Anytime phone call over ~5 minutes and it's pretty usual that the call will drop.

there is no AT&T reception in my apt. what use do I have for a phone if I can't make / receive phone calls? pls fix this AT&T because I'm thinking of switching to a different service.

Have called AT&T for 3-4 weeks now; they don't seem to be able to improve my service. I have poor-to-no reception inside the apt.; maybe 0-2 bars; we get "no signal" and sometimes "emergency calls only"; any calls that do come through get dropped after a few minutes. AT&T told me that my phone was old and should be checked. They also told me that that they have had no complaints from Brookline 02445 area. Now, I know better! They charged me $30 for a new phone (got a rebate) because it doesn't get a better signal. Any calls to or from my Brookline area - voices are garbled and echoey. Calls to / from anywhere else are crystal clear. Am ready to leave AT&T - I'm just not paying for service that I can't use at home.

Horrible service on AT&T. I get no service in my house (garden level), but my husband can talk on his Verizon phone, anywhere in the house, including the basement.

I cannot rely on getting calls at all. Sometimes it rings, but cannot receive or talk. Right now there is "No network coverage" I don't know if a GSM repeater would work here. If it would that would be great!

Most of the time, I don't get any signal on Verndale Street. Sometimes 1 bar... Even if I had signal in a lot of US cities (5 bars all the center of Boston) and almost all Europe, I have to switch...

Varies between 2 and 4 bars. I called ATT several years ago. They said I may have interference from satellite TV dishes.

Just got an iPhone this afternoon, and will be returning it in the morning. No 3G reception at all. EDGE fluctuated between no signal and one bar. The phone could not place a call.

AT&T must have added a tower since 2006. I've got 5 bars now.

there is no ATT signal, but perfect Verizon signal both indoor and outdoor. I never had any problem since I switch from ATT to verizon.

What a piece of crap. Outside 2-3 bars. In my apartment I get 2-3 bars when I am not holding my phone. Usually it rings, I pick it up, then it goes dead!

Can't talk inside the apartment, outside the apartment or any combination of :( Its about time for a switch... looks like T-Mobile people are pretty happy in our town

Phone is useless indoors. If it connects it is only a matter of seconds before the call is dropped. I have 1 or 2 Cingular bars (then it drops them and turns to 5 'gray' bars (T-Mobile signal for emergency calls)). I wish I had T-Mobile!

Outdoors 4 / 5 bars. Indoors 3 / 5. Works well in most rooms of Apt. Live in a modern high rise (thin Walls). reception not as crisp as one should expect but not as bad experience as other postings in area report.

Reception is 4 bars by the windows and 2 bars inside. I haven't had any communication problems. 99 Pond Ave.

I also called Cingular and the service rep stated that I had three towers close. She had to call me back on my home phone after my call dropped her. She also said I should have as many people in my area who also had Cingular service to call as well. Looking at this forum it seems as iff plenty of people have done what I have but still service is bad. I have a corporate rate so switching to Verizon for more money per month and losing over 500 minutes a month is just not an option. Come on Cingular!

My phone is unusable inside my apartment -- I can hardly understand what is being said and I often drop calls. I take all my calls on the balcony, where I get two to three bars. My boyfriend has Verizon, and gets average reception indoors.

reception is horrendous around this area. I called service rep, built a case, and it seems they are "working on it," I didn't know until I came this site that this is on-going problem in this area. TAB reported that town and its consultants are now working with T-Mobile and Verizon to solve the issues, but I wonder if that will include cingular... .

Never had dropped call outside. Inside apartment is different... Only one room will reliably hold connection. All other rooms often drop the calls.

Reception is terrible. Tons of dropped calls. Cingular response was that it is because I have an older TDMA phone.

service blows - can't hold a call for more than a minute, and less if you dare turn your head or move your neck while you are on the phone

Cingular doesn't have coverage in Brookline and Mrighton, MA. I wwitched to T-Mobile - works like charm. Also Cingular customer service is a horror story.

Very poor reception all over the Brookline village - 2 bars max...

Virtually unusable at this location inside and outside the building. The same goes for several ajacent streets. Good coverage 1/2 mile north, towards Beacon St.

Reception is all over the map. Anywhere from 1 to 5 without changing location.
