AT&T service has always been bad since I got the iPhone. Now it's almost completely unusable. One bar and no ability to make outgoing calls the last two days, where at home in Cambridgeport or at work at Boston University. Time to move on. Never again will I be stuck with AT&T.

Concord ave / Huron neighborhood is very spotty. Have had AT&T for years; it sucks here (recently moved here) both indoors and outdoors. Good signal sometimes, other times zero or Edge. Same location and even time of day! I complain to AT&T every day. So should you.

Very poor service in my place! It's very spotty, although it seems fine once I leave my place and place a call outside. It wouldn't be such a big deal if I had a home phone, but this is my home phone! Wanted to wait for the iPhone 5. For Verizon instead of AT&T. But don't know if I can last

Been with ATT for 4 years through all iphone models. used to experience decent signal strength. Now reception quality is poor to none. First started experiencing dropped calls after upgrading to G4(average 5 times during a 20min call), and no reception in areas where I previous had a decent reception with 3g. Often find a vm without the phone ringing at all. (Sometimes vm's arrive a full 24 hours after the messages were left.) I returned 4g and came back to 3g, fed up with constantly having to apologize for dropped calls. 3g reception is a little better than 4g, but still noticebly far worse than it used to be. coverage map shows this area to be solid dark-orange(max possible) reception, but my experience says otherwise. AT&T is clearly overloaded beyond its capacity.

Have replaced 3 Samsung phones in 12 days (now have phone #4 a SonyEriccson w518a) and finally discovered when the AT&T 3G phones search for a signal in weak areas such as mine ( 1 or 2 bars) a fully charged battery runs out in less than 24 hours with only 10 minutes of talk time. I'm returning to Verizon which was nearly faultless for the past ten years. I made the switch since my kids have iPhones and we wanted a family plan. Very discouraging and AT&T personnel did not know this problem exists.

I recently moved here to attend school in Boston. I have never had so many problems with AT&T before. It has been the most frustrating 3 months of my life. I can't have a conversation for more than 5 minutes inside my apartment before my phone drops the call. When I first moved here I would walk down the street a half a block and talk outside, but now it's winter and I can't do that. What really makes me mad is the amount of time my friends and family waste trying to get a hold of me. Sometimes I won't know about a missed call for a day or two. Ridiculous. Very dissappointed.

Before getting my iPhone I checked out AT&T's coverage for my area which is in Harvard, in the Biolabs, Law school and Beacon street area. When you visit their site it is on their "best" coverage. Well coverage is VERY spotty or none when inside the building, even the better corners by the window arent good enough to hold a call (meaning I dont receive them either) and even outside, for example at the Kirkland with Beacon st crossing the network is very low. AT&T CAN U FIX THIS?? I love the iPhone but had to quit the AT&T plan and now just use it as browser, email and ipod. AT&T around the whole of Harvard is VERY disappointing. ANY other major network works fine inside my building.

Cell phone reception is spotty at best indoors. many dropped calls. The worst is a call that continues but interference makes it difficult to hear clearly. The signal seems to get better at night and is worse in the afternoon. There are certain "places" I can be in the apartment and the call is better than others but this requires me to be in those areas to make and to recieve calls, sometimes leaving the cell phone in those areas just to get a call. Others with different cell carriers do not have this problem. There is a BIG difference between the signal performance here and anywhere else in Boston or Cambridge, so I am sure it is this building or this specific area. Cell phone towers seem to be spread out with none in this direct vicinity. I have three lines under contract with my carrier so it would be a pain to switch. Looking into cell attenae or booster for my apartment.

I got very poor reception with Cingular around HLS (and much of Cambridge) and almost no reception in my apartment. I figured that standing outside to call all my friends was bad enough in September but would be terrible in December. I switched to Verizon and get much much better reception. I actually got the Verizon phone before canceling Cingular, and tried using them both in my apartment to compare... the difference was very stark... Verizon would have two or three bars where Cingular had no signal, and wherever Cingular had a weak signal, Verizon had four or five bars.

Reception is fine in the middle of Harvard Square, but there's a big pocket of no-signal as you go up Garden St. to the Quad. I sometimes have acceptable (though not great) signal outside, but inside the glass-walled building where I work the phone usually doesn't even ring, and dialed calls consistently fail. Heading away from Harvard Yard in a different direction, Kirkland St. is just as bad if not worse -- very poor or no signal, even outside.

I've complained numerous times about no reception and dropped calls and they just say they have many towers in the area. It's also the wosrt custoemr service I have ever expereinced. I can't tell if the nearby tower that's giving me 4 bars as I type this is just often overloaded, so I get switched to a tower that's further away and only gives me 2 bars, but my average reception is usually 2 to 3 bars. Often the phone won't even ring for an incoming call when it's sitting in the charger in exactly the same place where it's now showing 4 bars. I think the towers are in reasonable locations, but they just don't have enough capacity for the number of customers in the area. I often get dropped from a call with 3 or more bars showing.

Until two weeks ago I had perfect reception in my building (for 18 months), and then it suddenly dropped to terrible about 12 days ago. Cingular reps explained to me that they were "re-networking" since the ATT / Cingular merger and that reception would be restored to fine within two days. Well, that was over a week ago. When I called Cingular again, they told me I need one of the new Cingular phones. Needless to say, I'm going to change companies.

Pathetic quality of service at my home. Looking out my back window you can see the Fresh Pond projects (three 24-story towers next to Alewife Station). Cingular has an antenna on one of these towers--serving Bill Weld and Mitt Romney's homes to the west and south. *NOT MINE* or the rest of us working folk in 02140 or even the gentrified Davis Square (where you get zero to one bars).
I have ordered a GSM phone to see if it makes any difference.
There has been no change since I first purchased service in June 2000. In fact I have not seen any evidence that Cingular has installed any towers anywhere at all in the north of Boston area since then.
