Earlier this month had no reception at all in my condo. Don't know what happened two weeks ago, but now have near perfect reception (usually 4, occasionally 3 bars) in all rooms of my home.

Using a SonyEricsson T610 I found the reception to be pretty good (often between 3 and 4 bars, occasionally 1 or 2 bars) but I almost always have service in the Newton/Chestnut Hill area (also Boston College campus).
I switched to T-Mobile from ATT wireless....T-Mobile is MUCH MUCH better all around I have found. (ATT wireless's GSM service is too new, the reception sucks right now.)

3G coverage overall is very poor in singal strength. 4G HSPA+ is nonexistent and EDGE although higher signal strength, it is still extremely slow for data and voice call quality is very poor. Although AT&T might seem to be the best option for a cellphone company in the Boston College Chestnut Hill campus including dorms and other buildings, reception is not of great quality and there are frequent dropped calls and fails, at least one or two per call. On BC's Newton Campus, Stuart Hall Dining Hall, AT&T has no coverage at all and in dorms, coverage is very spotty. On Newton, service is definitely very poor and at times, nonexistent. AT&T is great in many parts of the city of Boston and Verizon Wireless is a great alternative. T-Mobile and Sprint are not good alternatives to use at Boston College; only Verizon and AT&T.

For whatever reason, the area right around the T stop has terrible reception, though it has gotten better in the four years since I've lived here. I used to have no bars whatsoever; now I can at least hold a conversation. Funny (as one other reviewer mentioned) that there's a Verizon Wireless store 200yrds down the road with perfect service inside.

Although better than others in this area, T-Mobile signal dissapears once you get off Lagrange Street. After some complaints (yours truly two times) now I have one bar of reception from the window of second floor. Overall this area has horrible reception for all providers and one wonders how come no improvement has been done over the years although the area sports one of the richest neighborhoods.

This is a major cross roads area in a neighborhood in Boston. Many carriers drop calls in this area despite antennas being less than 2 miles away. How is it that this community, that has a very high density of people per square mile has such poor service?

Inside the house there is no reception. You need to go to the major road to get some signal. There some communication about adding another tower to the neighborhood.

Verizon seems to work fine on the Boston side of Boston College (i.e. the BC T-stop), but just as you go West on Comm Ave. for less than a mile, my signal fades and my calls get dropped. When i turn onto my street, my calls drop there as well. Inside my house, the reception is anywhere between one bar and no service, the latter the majority of the time. It seems Newton does not have many cell phone towers up.

Using a SonyEricsson T616 the coverage in door in this area is having very poor service. Often lost signals, drop calls, and only have 1 bar of service in certain spots. Some spots have no signals at all.

Using a SonyEricsson T616 (GSM) the coverage was absolutely horrible in the Newton/Chestnut Hill area, also on Boston College campus. I often had no service. Switched to T-Mobile with same phone (T610) and got much much improved reception
