The map shows coverage, although it does show a giant white spot to the west. We are solidly in the "red zone" and yet the phone is constantly searching for signal. If you don't shut it down, you'll find a dead battery in the morning. We're using two different phones, although they are both the VZ / Pantech PN 300, a three year old design. Looking at the coverage maps for the "big four" it appears that AT&T is far and away the best for coverage. I'd hate to get one and find out it still won't work. Our main residence is on LI, NY where coverage is never an issue with any carriers, at least wherever we need it to be. We have been on VZ since 94 and for the most part haven't had any issues with reception, except in the Berkshires, including as far south as Lakeville CT, just below the border of MA. However that problem is another specific location, not an entire area. The VZ coverage in the Dalton / Pittsfield region is spotty for quite a large sized piece of real estate, much of which is a shopping center region. Quite annoying to say the least.
