Although Verizon is expensive, I've been with them for 8 years, and reception has always been good. Can't say much for customer service though. :

Service was pathetic initially. Had 0 reception initially in the house. But the service has improved considerably over the last few days... sometines I even get 5 bars :D But overall service has been poor and customer service needs to improve.

It must be the handset, I had the T68i and that worked fine inside my home and at my work. T-Mobile is pretty OK in Lowell / Boston / I-495 / Rt. 3 going to Nashua. Calls drop on I-95 near Waltham. I work near Acton and it works OK there too.

River Rd. in Lowell runs along Merrimack River - no reception in the house - have to stand outside in a certain area to get a little reception. Streets all around this area have poor reception.

no reception at all I do however get reception on the same street with my sony Ericsson phone

Used to work inside my bldg (the concrete slab known as Olsen Hall), but starting July 2006 does not. Can get reception on the street, fine. Cingular claims nothing has changed. I will try T-Mobile -- if that works in my building, bye-bye Cingular.

I go to UML and I get absolutly no reception from my Nextel in my dorm room

Great reception all over except around Littleton, NH where it is weak and sometimes no bars but still manage to get through.
