AT&T service is terrible. I am visiting from Boston every other week and almost every call drops within 90 seconds. If there are many tourists here during the weekend, forget about calling at all. TXT messsages are delivered very sporadic. I had friends, on ATT or other services, send me TXT and they appeared 8-12 hours, yes hours not minutes, later. I wish I could get out of my contract and toss ATT out where they belong. In the garbage. As I was calling 611 to complain my call was droppend three times. Just proves the point. A better solution than ATT is two cans with a string inbetween. Roger

I live in Los Angeles and I'm renovating a summer home in PTown. During the fall of 2010, I visited for 2 weeks and I got PERFECT reception on ATT wireless service, on both the iPhone and iPad. I had no dropped calls and I got cell reception at the most remote places like the dunes at the beach! I was able to manage email, texting, internet and cell calls with no problem whatsoever, day or night. I highly recommend the iPhone G4 and ATT on Cape Cod or anywhere else that I've traveled in the US. -Danny

Let me preface this by saying I was no big fan of Cingular - horrible customer service and the last time I was here (using predecessor AT&T) I could barely get a signal. So I am AMAZED that I get nearly perfect signal all over Truro and Provincetown. They must have built towers. I also have a Verizon Motorola Q with me (testing it because was considering switching) and the Verizon converage is extremely spotty in comparison. Some places it's great, other places it blows. Constantly cutting out on Route 6 between Eastham and Truro. Yet Cingular was almost perfect. I still can't believe it. (Especially because my sister, who lives here, told me that Verizon supposedly has the strongest signal here -- but I think that is based on information that existed before Cingular put their new towers in.)

I have even recieved reception at Herring Cove. A friend used the "walkie- talkie" feature on her phone to talk to her husband in Chicago. She had no problem talking to her parents in Canada also from Herring Cove. The only area where I have had a problem is on Rt. 6 coming into town or inside certain structures, but for the most part no problems. I was with U.S. Cellular and had horrible reception.

Lousy T-Mobile service in Provincetown. Zero bars most of the time... .no service. While moving around town I'll periodically get one bar and have the opportunity to make a call, but the risk of being dropped is high.

T-Mobile actually works in Provincetown, but the service is very tempermental. You can walk down Commercial St (near Bayside Betty's) and have 5 bars on the oceanside of the street and no service on the inland (opposite) side of the street. T-Mobile will tell you that they don't guarantee service in this town and a check with town officials states that Cingular has an active agreement for service now with other companies negotiating to provide service at some undecided point in the future. Verizon tends to roam and I have not been able to access Sprint, Nextel, Cingular or AT&T in town as of this posting.

Although most of Ptown is well-served by VZW using the collocation site on the North Truro public service tower (several miles east of Ptown), service in the West End suffers greatly, especially on the hilltop near the Best Western Chateau Motor Inn property. When in Ptown, best to be at lower elevations with clear line-of-site to the North Truro tower. You will generally get 4-5 bars in most of Ptown. Otherwise, on the RF skip, you may pick up signals from Plymouth, Sudbury, Hull on the Boston system. Truro tower is part of the Cape Cod RSA.
