In general I've always had good reception with Sprint PCS. In California (Silicon Valley, San Fran, etc.) , Nevada (Vegas), Utah (SLC) and in the northeastern states. I get reception almost all the way along Rt. 2 out to western mass, which I can't say the same for ATT Wireless. Around the Beverly, Salem area, I've never had any problems with my service. I get spotty coverage driving up into northern New Hampshire (near Franklin), and Maine also. Driving down to the airport in Providence, RI I haven't had any problems with signal. No problems in Boston either. I've been using Sprint PCS for 5 years now, and after the first year I didn't have any problems. There were some initial bugs in their network when I would travel to Mass from California when I lived there. Their cell towers wouldn't recognize the phone, and every now and then I'd have to do software updates for the phone - but all that was taken care of over-the-air by Sprint PCS support and smoothed out quickly. My only current problem with Sprint PCS is that I rarely get signal inside of the Cummings Center in Beverly. It's a very large, concrete structure and cell signal just doesn't penetrate it. Nextel has an antenna / tower on the roof, and you can get decent Verizon signal inside the building, and very limited Cingular / ATT Wireless signal.
