My phone worked ok at best for the last yearbut now it's like having no phone. I cant use the internet most of the time. But when it works it's good. (why do I get a good sig sometime) now its dropping calls, not sending text mes, and not downloading email. I spent an hour on the phone with someone. That was a waste of time. I cancelled two lines yesterday. I am writing the better business beurow and I am going to file in court. I ask everyone to do the same. I don't plan on making money, just going to go for trip damage on the last three months. So about 1200 bucks. But it will be bad press and if others start to do it then this crap company will be forced to do something. I F***ing hate Att

Used to get no service with Verizon - battery would drain since it was constantly searching for service. Switched to AT&T and it works fine. Conveniently (maybe too conveniently), there is a AT&T branch in Vinnin Square. Maybe they have a monopoly on the cell towers in the area.

Bars drop to none, and sometimes no signal at all. Other parts of town are actually quite good. Not aware of any carrier with a strong signal in the Atlantic Ave. Humphrey St. Had AT&T for many years, and they also had a dead zone in that area. Anyone know if Sprint or Verizon are better in that part of Swampscott?

Have had better luck with T-Mobile the past three years than with the carriers my family had previously with AT&T qne Verizon. It 's now sometimes possible to complete a call without dropping. With the others, all calls were dropped before completion. Not much of an endorsement. Problem is lack of towers and proximity of the ocean.

Swampscott has terrible reception. I had Sprint and I couldn't use my phone at my house. Everyone raved about Verizon so I switched. I specifically asked the rep about Swampscott and was assured it was fine. Not so. I really can't use it at home because it is so erratic. What's the problem??

I have to agree with the last post. Sprint is the best bet for this area... .I have friends with Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc; nothing compares... .Sprint is really the only one in this area with "more bars in more places" not the others...

Before buying new cell service, I borrowed cell phones from friends to use at my house for a day to see what reception I would get because Swampscott is the kind of asinine town that won't allow cell towers to deface the landscape or whatever other ridiculous reasons. I tried all major carriers at hoem, AT&T, Verizon, Nextel, and a few others and NONE of them allowed calls either to or from my house and very spotty, horrible service all over Swampscott. Then someone told me that Sprint had recently installed a cell tower in Nahant, a tiny, upscale island just a few miles from me. The tower is right near the open beaches and is unobstructed with other buildings. I got Sprint and it works great both at home and around town with very few exceptions. NO dropped calls, no static. If you live in Swampscott, Sprint appears to be the only service that works.
