Varies from 0 to 1 bar. Same for Cingular. Both are GSM most likely same tower. The carrier coverage maps tell a different story. I like to see a carrier actually perform a signal strength survey and fix the problem. One the other hand using Sprint's EVDO has been very successful
We live in a neighborhood called the Orchards which is bounded by Northern Parkway, N. Charles, W. Lake, and Roland Ave. The coverage is terrible. Although we have Cingular, neighbors with other providers have the same issue. It may be a case of NIMBY run amok.
cingular worked perfectly for 2 months, and now the service quality is just terrible: dropped calls, and someday not even a network access... does not come from my phone thoug, as it works in most other places.
Outdoors in Mt. Vernon I get okay reception, but indoors (even in my 1st floor apartment) I often get very weak reception. This is especially true in bars (The Stable and Brewars Art) with basements. I normally would not expect my cell phone to work in these locations, but I get zero reception while my friends with Verizon get full bars! I would switch to Verizon but from what I have read they "cripple" some of the better phones they offer so you can only interact with them through Verizon services (eg, you cannot transfer images from your PC to your phone because Verizon disables the feature in the phone). I'm disappointed, is there no service with good reception and halfway decent phones?
