Nextel is terrible and only getting worse. It is impossible to talk to anyone anywhere in the city without droping the call. Pityfull, absolutely pityfull.
I just switched from the SCH-A530 to the A670. My older phone overall had better reception, but the service is still great. I get a great signal throughout the city, and wherever I travel. I rarely have dropped calls. Also, when I'm in a city's subway system, including Baltimores, I always get a full signal. I think Verizon is still the only company that offers underground cell phone reception.
I always have a great signal no matter where I am in the city including the downtown area. I live in a high rise apartment building, and my reception is perfect in my apartment as well.
Outdoors in Mt. Vernon I get okay reception, but indoors (even in my 1st floor apartment) I often get very weak reception. This is especially true in bars (The Stable and Brewars Art) with basements. I normally would not expect my cell phone to work in these locations, but I get zero reception while my friends with Verizon get full bars! I would switch to Verizon but from what I have read they "cripple" some of the better phones they offer so you can only interact with them through Verizon services (eg, you cannot transfer images from your PC to your phone because Verizon disables the feature in the phone). I'm disappointed, is there no service with good reception and halfway decent phones?
Good reception anywhere in house even in basement. Almost never drops a call, calls always clear. This may be due to the phone since I also have a Motorola V180 which gets horrible reception usually 1-3 bars at most, and often drops calls (ofcourse the Mot V180 I got free from T-Mobile for signing up another year... anybody need a paperweight).
I usually have a really good signal most places I go or have been in the city. I've never been in a location where my phone just doesn't work. When I had T-Mobile, connectivity problems were a day-to-day basis.
Great service! I always have service unlike my friends with Sprint and AT&T. Verizon really does have a reliable network! I had the iPhone and AT&T was horrible.
I used to have Verizon and always had at least four bars anywhere on the East Baltimore campus. I made the awful mistake of switching to Cingular at the recommendation of a friend, and have had numerous dropped calls and very poor reception all over Baltimore since then, but it's especially bad when I'm in the hospital. Also get very poor reception at the Hopkins Bayview campus. Am counting down the days till I make the switch back to Verizon.
