T-Mobile has given consistent urban and interurban reception. Reception does drop to 2s and 1s in villages and treey areas and also in out-of-sight locations. If you live in the city... is the best... if you are out in the country try something else.

Cingular provided the best reception of any of the carriers in my area. In part, it may be the result of their old anolog technology, which does not "cut off" the way digital radio does. Unfortunately, the same technology does allow for a lot of the features you can get with other carriers, and I eventually switched to Verizon, which came close in coverage at home, and also covers the metro system. That was a big plus.

I lived with T-Mobile for a year - before they called themselves T-Mobile. Coverage was marginal, OK in some rooms upstairs, but poor to nonexistent on the first floor. I had just switched from AT&T, and T-Mobile is a giant step up from them.

Started off average, but in the course of 10 months, became totally useless. 1 in 20 calls got thru. AT&T told me to get a new phone, so I did, with the same result. I'm convinced that AT&T cut back on transmitter power, leaving a hole in my area. Indeed, they told me my address was no longer in their service area. Neverthless, they held me to a 2 year service contract for a phone that won't work. NEVER will I use AT&T again.
