I just got the new Blackberry Curve and I love it. So far it works everywhere my AT&T phone didnt. I went with Cingular a few years back because of a promotion. Some promotion that was! 2 years of dropped calls. Live and learn I guess. Im with Verizon for good.

T-Mobile is great for Bethesda, full strength at all times. DC is above average. No connection on Reno Dr. (between Conn. and Wisc. Aves.)
Don't even think about talking on the Metro with T-Mobile. For the most part DC Metro area is average. Most of 295 won't get connection and parts of 95N towards Baltimore.

at&t 3G coverage is terrible here- it will show full bars but still drop calls. Tried a 3G microcell- not any better- shows 4 bars but still drops the call when it tries to hand-off to the closest real tower (and there is no way to control this). To get usable signal, I have to force the phone to edge mode (perhaps those frequencies penetrate better?) when I get home from work. Oddly this edge trick does not work on every model, but I can go from 0-1 bar of 3G to 3 stable bars with edge.

1 block from DC line. Cannot call out from anywhere in the house, even on top floor near windows or standing outside. Since switching from ATT for years, the Cingular service is awful. Customer Service claims, "why, it is pretty good in your area, must be something wrong with your phone." Excellent reception, call out in other major cities--Boston, San Francisco
