Cingular is a joke in Baltimore. I work in Washington DC and drive 295 every day. I pass by a gigantic Cingular receiving station with literally 100 satellite receivers and as soon as I pass by, my calls drop. I've called tech support to include top tier technicians who vary in telling me that there is a definite problem with coverage in Baltimore and DC to telling me it's my phone to telling me there is nothing wrong with my service. I received voicemail alerts a day after the message is left and it takes an average of 2-3 attempts to place a call. All of my family members and friends who have Cingular say the same thing. My advice, stay away from Cingular and go with Verizon or Sprint. Cingular is a joke. Too bad because when I signed up with Cingular I lived in Ohio and the reception was spectacular. As soon as I moved to Baltimore; garbage!

Been with T-M0BILE for 3 years. Coverage has rapidly expanded monthly throughout east coast to the mid west. The BEST bang for your buck. Unlimited T-zones($4.99 monthly to surf internet, e-mail and sports scores) and unlimited text mess(for the kids) has been fantastic. When I purchased my family plan I knew EXACTLY what coverage I was buying well in advance. **Do your reseach thoroughly for your plan and equiptment and you will not be disappointed. 2 year commitments suck. You will be trapped when it comes time for upgrading your ancient phone. I also have carried a plan with Cingular for 12 years. The family plans(T-Mobile and Cingular) helps me to save a tremendous amount of airtime fees at work and on the soccer field with parents. Remember: cell plans are not like most relationships... ... ..you can not get "hooked up" and then 6 moths later change your mind :-) Do your homework well and pay attention to all fees that may incur. Family plans are so sweet!

We get good reception wherever we go. Every time someone tries to get me to switch my family plan from T-Mobile, I resist.

Picture phones are the neatest thing. Look for a phone that has a removeable media card so you will not have to pay for transferring your pics from your phone to another device( another phone, PC or photo center)

No reception in the home, 2 or 3 bars of service outside and calls are still dropped. I already did *228 4x and nothing so I called Verizon they said to do a soft reset which involves removing battery for 20 seconds I did that and still didn't work, the customer rep said by tomorrow service should be up due to the storms still going through the Maryland area

I moved here 7 months ago. I have had Verizon for about 10 years now and it never occurred to me that it would not work here, as it worked in the middle of nowhere at my last address. Seems the brick walls of the rowhouses block the signal (though friends on AT&T get a signal just fine). For the first time in 5 years, I had to have a landline phone installed. Now people have to try tracking me down at 2 numbers, and I am paying for a phone I don't want from the same company that provides service for my cell. In essence, Verizon gets more money from me each month by virtue of my not being able to get a signal at home. That seems wrong. If the cell won't work here, Verizon should not be charging me for a landline that essentially picks up the slack.

Soon as you enter North Point Village bars start dropping. I have to go outside of my house to make a phone most of the time and even then it frequently drops. We have had people at our house with AT&T, Virgin Mobile and T-Mobile and they all have a perfect signal even in the houses basement. Verizon just tries to sell me one of those $200 "network extenders". Yeah like I am going to pay that then let them piggyback off of my broadband just so they can give me the service they promised me in the first place...
