i have a slvr candy bar phone service is pretty good occasional dropped failed calls. I had Nextel and it was poor at best no service 98% of the time not even voice mails, 2 way ptt didnt work either service usually started to work fair when I went into baltimore city switched to Cingular in feb 2006 so far so good. I was told by a cbale tv technician that service in the essex area is bad because of closeness to the martin state airport..and not being able to put towers in the area because of that dont know if its true

Cingular must have added a cell tower in my area somewhere around New Years Day! I went from 1-2 bars which I had had for about 9 years, to mostly full signal strength!

I tell everyone to leave a voice mail. Virtually no service if I'm within a vehicle. To make a call I have to drive around with my phone in hand to get a bar or 2 and then get out of the car to make the call. I'm a police officer in Essex and the phone is important. From what I hear all providers suck, for the lack of a better word, in this area. Build a FREAKIN TOWER!

They are ripping us off, we need a tower

I was with Sprint but needed a muti-capability phone which Sprint does not have. Went with their partner - which I discovered are not really their partner - because of the powerful Motorola i930. I was disappointed. Absolutely no service from my housing complex. Returned the phone, but now Sprint is holding me captive. I am phoneless. Be warned! Nextel does not work here. I will gladly get back my i930 whenever Nextell decides to compete at 21221 zip code. Till then, I'm gone. My advise, "stay away."

No reception in these area at all, very bad area. don't even get voice messages eighter.

I constantly drop calls with Verizon when I am in Essex. I have been with them for about 3 years now, (my fault, I know) and the cell service for Verizon is complete crap. I just called them today, and they offered this new and exciting solution called a network extender. They said that this would help stop dropped calls in my home. Even with a 10% discount, it would still cost $189.00. At the moment, I am on the phone with tech support and they are putting in a trouble ticket for me. It takes about 20 minutes. I suggest everyone who cannot get service in Essex with Verizon call and put in a trouble ticket. I've seen that tower at Backriver Neck Rd and Williams too. Be nice if they turned it on.

I should have never switched from Sprint but my boyfriend talked me into it. I cannot talk in my home unless I find a decent spot and stand perfectly still. I work right next door to my home and have no reception what so ever there.

A new tower was recently constructed near Back River Neck and Williams Avenue. Construction began before Thanksgiving, 2007. The equipment is marked with Verizon stickers. Apparently it is not yet in use because there has been no improvement in service. I don't understand why this tower is not in use after 5 months. Does anyone have any information?

Usually I have to hunt for a "lucky spot" to make a call; occasionally, I get good reception at a number of spots. In general, service is not very dependable. My son has Verizon with a Motorola phone and he tends to get more bars, even when we are sititng together.

For the most part it's pretty good. Have problems inside restaurants and malls most of the time. Also, this particular phone kicks my calls into voice mail before I have a chance to answer it quite a bit.

this is terrible service when may contract is done I am done with monthly service.will switch to by the minute service and keep phone for out of essex use.can not use where I work or live(essex)

The black hole of Baltimore County. My cell phone will work long enough for me to say hi... then I get cut off. Most of the time my cell phone dosen't work at all.
