Good Bye AT&T; I will switch to Verizon or Sprint for my 4GS... and because the phone provides courier options, I will switch again in two years if I get bad reception!

I have to go outside or stand next to my front window facing the cell tower which is located near Ft Detrick. I get 1-1 / 2 bars if I go to my second floor window. If T-Mobile is rated the highest, I feel sorry for the rest.

Just purchased a new Android smartphone thinking I would get better reception... .not so. Still only receive one bar in my residence even though I am located within.3 miles of a T-Mobile tower. Frederick County and City need more towers. Service will not improve with merger of ATT and T-Mobile since both companies have only one tower each in locale and ATT is rated lower than T-Mobile on reception scale.

Never had a problem with reception whether I am in a large building make of steel or outside anywhere I always have good coverage. Since they have capped the 3G data I have had a big slow down with that though.

Always have reception, exception is in my basement, but hey... I just bought a new Motorola Droid, always 3 bars, and usually 3G data coverage everywhere I travel in frederick County. Never have issues in the 85 area, on Hwy. 75 between New Market and I-270... Verizon has been (past 10 years) the best for this area. Personally, I believe a lot has to do with phones, my Motorola Q was so-so, but my wife had a Motorola Razr that never lost signal.

I had T-Mobile in Mount Airy, MD and had no service inside of my house, and moved to Frederick and now I get 3G service. In Mount Airy, I would have to walk outside of my house at least half mile to get service!

I had Sprint in Chicago and moved to Frederick about 9 months ago. While I never had a problem in chicago, around here my signal strength varies wildly, even sitting still in my apartment in town. Calls frequently drop or sound garbled. I haven't encountered a "dead zone" with absolutely no service, but it is utterly unreliable. With my plan expiring this summer, I'm definitely in the market for a new carrier.

Mostly bad reception. Some parts of Frederick are dead. Sprint plays hard ball. Expect no sympathy and no getting out of your contract, sucker!

I had Sprint for six months after I moved up here, and it just wasn't acceptable. I've had Verizon fov over a year now. It has much better reception in rural areas, and I have had very few problems with dropped calls anywere (although there is a black hole on Rt. 340 between the Maryland/Virginia state line and Frederick). Verizon simply owns over everyone else in the area, even in DC and Baltimore (I spend quite a bit of time in each). I had an Audiovox flip-phone for a while, and usually had between three and five bars, although I often recieved no reception inside. I just got my Kyocera, and I almost always have four bars (the max on this phone), and many fewer problems indoors.

AT&T Wireless has dropouts at the following locations along Interstate 70: at the Baltimore County line between the Beltway and US29. Near Turf Valley (where US40 comes in and joins, near mile 82). At the Frederick County line near Mt. Airy. Near Spring Ridge (Mile 59). Near New Market (Mile 62). Along US340 and US15, there's a severe dropout atop the ridge near Jefferson, MD - the call will drop every single time and 200 feet later you'll have five bars. I've been with AT&T for three years and this has never changed in the slightest.

Never more than 0-1 bars in my house. It's terrible reception pretty much everywhere (although it does work much better outside 2-3 bars). Go with Verizon, do not get stuck in an AT&T contract if you live in Frederick, MD.

I am on my phone all the time for work. Lose a few calls but overall I get pritty good coverage. Looking to change carriers mainly because of price of my phones. T-Mobile has a unlimited plan for 2 phones for 100.00 but need more info from T-Mobile customers first. I use about 3000 mins a month and it needs to work.

I have poor coverage in Frederick, MD... . as well as DC. Some places are great, other are horrible. I see people chatting or surfing in areas where I don't get coverage. I'm going to start asking them who their providers are. I came here looking for guidance, but all the info seems dated.

I drive back roads between Frederick and Rockville. There are several areas along the back roads (Route 85 and Route 28), where I would depend on reception the most in an emergency, but I lose connection with calls I'm on, or have no service at all in those areas. More aggrivating than that, is I told Verizon to take me off their email list for special offers because I was considering a new carrier for the next contract period -- all I got was "okay -- you are off our list". Nothing saying they will foward my concerns to customer service, just okay, you're off. I think that's terrible customer service and they obviously aren't concerned about losing long-standing clients.

My phone gyrates wildly between 5 bars and 1 bar inside and outside my house, even while I'm being still. The real average reception is 1 bar. Constant muffled and stuttered voice reception with predictable drops during the afternoons. Inside or outside the house, it doesn't matter. Even if I drive towards Hwy. 15 on Opossumtown Pike the situation is little better. In fact, reception remains muffled until I hit the Key Mall. From April 17th until April 21st, my cell phone service was totally unusable, even for retrieving voice mail, even though I had "3 bars". That's a shame since Cingular works so well in the Atlanta area. I guess you can't travel, have just one cell phone, and expect to have any reception.

Nothing. Park users, especially mountain hikers and bikers, need good communication to get help in case of an accident. I understand all carriers have very poor to no coverage up here. Certainly, not one is reliable.

4g data fades in and out between 4g and edge networks. Sometimes slow to connect. I was trying to locate where T-Mobile cell towers were located. It looks like frederick only has 1. It would be nice if there were more.
