Phone receives only one bar of signal at best, calls are regularly dropped, and (what is worse) incoming calls are often unable to get through and voice mail doesn't show up until you go to a better service area. Our house is up out of the low ground by Rock Creek, so that can't be the reason.
Saying to T-Mobile MDA phone receives poor service is almost an overstatement in this area. I miss calls, and always have calls dropped inside and outside in this area. I have never received a crystal clear call in this area using the T-Mobile MDA phone.
Although I get almost no reception in the basement of my office; I have to say that I am very happy with Verizon because even when my phone has no bars I can make calls and they sound crystal clear and then drop but that is not an issue for me as I knew that all carriers have problems with their signals in this area; so I knew what the bargain was. Hope this helps and that Verizon starts to improve its signal in this area where many loyal customers are expecting to get "THE MOST RELIABLE NETWORK."
Reception when I first moved (Sept 04) was a little below average, but not horrid, and that was on my old phone. Reception has improved over the last year, and with my new phone (acquired in Nov 05), I have had absolutely no problems, unlike my housemate who has Sprint and has to go sit outside on the front porch to talk on his phone.
Reception in the entire Kensington Area is poor to non-existent. Verizon admitted they have a problem in this area but that was 1 year ago and they have done nothing to rectify it. "Can you hear me now guy" must not live around here. I fry every time I hear their commercials!
The Verizon reception is great except for Rock Creek Parkway between East West Highway and Carter Baron Theatre. About halfway through I always lose coverage. Otherwise always reliable. Was recently with my sister on Highway 1 in Montery. I had coverage, she did not. Sprint was her carrier.
Works terribly in the neighborhoods. I have to get almost onto Georgia Ave. and Plyers Mill to get any reception. I notice a lot of cell towers at Wheaton Mall. Verizon works in the neighborhoods pretty well.
Sketchy cell phone reception in my home. Sometimes phone doesn't ring at all. I often lose calls. It's a pain. I'm in a low place near Rock Creek Park - maybe that's why.
