US Cellular has done a really good job thoroughly covering Allegany County with reception. I have never had any problem using my phone in Cumberland, LaVale, Frostburg, Keyser, Westernport, or on Rt. 220. Their service also covers into the rural part of the county out into the Oldtown area. In fact, the my mom has AT&T and I almost always have better service than her by at least one bar, and I know there are times when I have full service and she has no service. My only complaint would be the lack of better coverage (although there is some) in the George's Creek area and just south of Keyser. If you live in this area or are relocating here, I would say that USCC has the best reception and if that's what matters most, then they are your best choice (although ATT is also a good choice, just don't get Nextel!).

I have had US Cellular for about three years now. In Cumberland / LaVale, Frostburg, and the Keyser areas reception is excellent. However, lack of towers in areas with less than 5,000 people has made most of the county a one or two bar place. I live in Lonaconing and I only have one or two bars at my home, around town, in Midland, and in Barton. Reception gets up to about 3 or 4 in Westernport. In the rural areas like Oldtown, Flinstone, and the woods area around there the reception is between no bars and two bars also. So if you live in Cumberland, LaVale, Frostburg, Keyser, or any part of Allegany or Mineral County where theres a lot of ppl then u probly have reliable service. But other than that the majority of the county is left with poor reception. However, I gave them a 4 because most ppl spend there majority of there time in those areas with good service. Also they are much more reliable then cellular one and Nextel which are the second and third most popular carriers in the area.
