Since Cingular joinging up with AT&T I have not found one place my phone does not work. It even works in Hawaii. Most of my friends have Verizon and my phone works in areas theirs dont like basements and other underground structures. People who think Cingular has bad reception must just have bad phones because I have been all over the U.S. and my phone has bever let me down. Most of the time (99%) I have full bars even durring hurricans. I belive Cingular has the best plan ever.

For some reason the last three days my reception has been between 4-5 bars, even in my basement. Wondering if a new cell tower has been erected near Piney Orchard / Gambrills area. Nevertheless, little to no complaints!

Typically 5 of 7 bars on the Nokia 6682 1st Gen Smart Phone. Data transfer rates on EDGE top out at 115.2 Kbps. Reception on all three levels of townhouse works. Last Carrier Verizon worked only on the 2nd Floor. Dropped calls on 1st Floor and Basement. Not sure about T-Mobile or Sprint, but assume they are not better based on input from other users.

The reception is so-so. It seems that it depends on the weather. I use the phone in DC as well and the reception is perfect there.

I've had Verizon wireless service for 5 years in upstate NY and NoVa, never had such terrible reception until I moved to Piney Orchard a few months ago. As a previous poster noted, reception is particular bad (many dropped calls) when the tower gets busy in the evening (8 to 10pm). There is a new AT&T cell tower at the south end of the development (the giant flag pole at the skating rink), just went operational sometime in the last few months; probably going to give AT&T a shot (can't be anyworse than the service I get now).

The signal comes and goes in my townhome. I get 2 bars on a good day and I'm still hovering near the window and I can forget about carrying on a conversation in my basement! My friends with T-MOBILE (of all carriers) recieve excellent reception in my whole house, including the basement! :(

Verizon service has been excellent all thru Maryland, and Washington DC (to include underground on the Metro). The funny thing is that I cannot get any signal inside my apartment in Odenton, MD.

Weak reception, especially indoors. Calls dropped too frequently.

Reception is little to none in my apartment but half a mile a way its perfect. Tried repeaters with no success. Wish Verizon would get another tower here. Ill have to move to use data at all.

Customer with T-Mobile since 2006. Drop calls daily at West Nursery exit. Commute out of state. Work in Pa. Drop calls again between exit's 74 Bel Aire, 77 Joppa, 89 Havre De grace. Again in Cecil Co. exit 100 North East. crossing into Delaware off of 896 back road near ols Delaware University. Last drop call 495 Wilmington passing Delaware river. This is daily. I've called and complained to carrier. 3 phones replaced. All BBPearl 8100. Thinking about changing service with Verzion.

The signal seems good at times, but when the cell site gets busy the signal strength is horrible. 8-10pm at night as well as 11am - 1pm it is hard to keep a call connected. Tried a different phone a XV6700, same issues. My girlfriend lives nearby with a Motorola E815 and has the issues as me.

There are only a few locations in our new condo where we can receive and place cell phone calls. Verizon claims we need a tower in the area.

We just moved here from Ohio and have had trouble with our service ever since. In Ohio, we never had any trouble. Since we have been here, we drop calls all the time, and our service is staticky at best. We can be sitting right next to our phone and it will never ring, but people will go straight to voice mail. Text messages are taking forever to receive. If we want to make a call on our cell phone, we have to go out on our back deck and hope it goes through. If you do get through on the phone, you better not move an inch, because you WILL drop the call. We did recently upgrade to the LG VX9800 "The V" Phone. Our service seems to be a little bit better, but not much. We are dropping calls less often, and the calls are going through more often. Its still not the level of reception that we were getting in Ohio though.

Piney Orchard area. Inside my house, I get 2 bars at most (usually only one bar). I have to go out onto the back deck to make a call and hope that it isn't dropped.

Coverage used to be fairly good. Approximately three weeks ago, I started to lose calls over 60% of the time - but mainly in this area. Calls now go directly into voicemail without me ever hearing the phone ring. Constantly get "all circuits busy" when dialing from this area. Tried making a call for over 90 minutes until I finally gave up. continued to saycircuits busy.

I have NEXTEL and I need to put out that I agree cell phones are not land lines meaning they arent going to be as good but they shouldnt not be not working when I am in a wide open parking lot and its saying no service. I am sure you can imagine what it is like in my own home. As a result we did some research and found that Motorola isnt great when it comes to reception. So maybe you all need to take at the type of phone you have it seems that is the only thing that keeps staying in common with everyone of the services. My fiance recently got a blackberry and there is not a single issue in our home or anywhere else. That is still with NEXTEL. Just a thought to consider!

I have to lean on the window to make a phone call. If I go near the kitchen in the town home I lose the call. Sprint is just not any good.

I moved here in August 06. Reception was OK. No calls in the basement, and not calls in the kitchen. No Big Deal. Since January I have had no reception at all. I will get 1 or 2 bars. I even get notified that I have a voice mail. Unfortunately, I cannot see who called because there is no received call number. Also, I cannot check my voicemail because I do not have enough reception. I called Cingular, and they were very helpful-AT FIRST. They sent me a new SIM chip. Once I received the SIM chip, I called Cingular to have it activated. No change in reception with the new SIM chip. The lady said that because of the Cingular / AT&T merge, they are working on the towers and I would not have good reception. OK-so when will this be fixed, and what can I do to fix this issue? She does not know how long it will take to get fixed and there is nothing I can do. She was pleasant; I will give her that. Now, what do I do with a phone that I cannot use near or in my house?

Sprint / Nextel is the worst ever! My contracts are over for my 4 business phones and I will never go back. Dropped calls and garbled calls all over Baltimore and DC Metro areas on daily basis- holes in coverage everywhere. Very frustrating trying to do any business. Promises of increased service with merger have not come true and I am not waiting any longer. Terrible customer service. Do not waste your time and money on Sprint Nextel. I am going to Verizon Wireless- I have heard coverage is not perfect, but much better- can't be any worse!

Spotty, very poor coverage in Piney Orchard. Dropped calls are routine when they can be made at all. The reason for the rating is it's less than poor and closer to no service at all.
